He's taken for granted the fact that he gets all the benefits without the commitment. I would get firmer with him, tell him that you want to get married. If he says absolutely not, then tell him you are moving out until he is ready to get married. You don't have to break up, just don't live together.
My boyfriend and I live together, but we are both not ready to get married right now, but in the near future we will be.

I have been living with a guy for 2 years and I don't want to get married. He doesn't either.
We are very happy, compatible and grown-ups.
If I get to the point where I want to get married so bad, and he doesn't, then I don't want HIM=I want married.
If he ever decides he wants to get married, I would lose $400 a month alimony. Not too likely.
Doesn't ever want to get married to anyone, or just to YOU?
AT some point YOU have to decide that you want marriage and kids, and go find it elsewhere.
If you are waiting for him to CHANGEdon't hold your breath.
Meanwhile, your clock is ticking, so don't fool around and miss out on what YOU want , waiting for him.
YOU get to decide.

He will never do it. Do not live with that ilusion. He just wants what you are giving him. Free sex, no responsibilities and fun. That's it. Good luck, there are so many others who want something steady.

Maybe you should believe what he says. If you want to get married, one of you will have to change their mind.
