In the Southeastern US skunks are called polecats. Skunks are cousins of weasels or ferrets who are also called polecats. My daughter used to have a ferret that she raised with a kitten and they were best buddies.
Skunks can be 'disarmed' when they are babies and if raised with a kitten or cat they should get along. I met a woman a few years ago who raised skunks for pets and she said hers used the litterbox. She let me hold one and it was very tame. This one had blonde fur and blue eyes.
I hope I answered your question.

A polecat is not a cat. It is more like a ferret, but it is a wild animal, not a pet. I don't suggest one. But a ferret would share a litter box with a cat. Ferrets are actually domestic polecats.

Are you serious? A polecat is like a really stinky cousin to a ferret. They are NOT suitable pets. And they probably would not be companionable with a cat.
Polecats belong in the wild, not in your home.

MY daughter kept cats and ferrets and as far as I know there was no problem. I do know that some people have pole cats as pets but they are not easy to deal with. Ferrets make good pets but you can let them run around like cats. You Need to keep them in a pen or if you let them loose in the house it must be ferret proof. A ferret can get through any hole or space it can get it's head through They do not come back home like cats so if they escape they will go off exploring and get lost.

I believe a polecat is a skunk. At least, the definitions are the same in WordWeb (a freeware program). So if you get one, it might not get along too well with your cat. They are wild animals, and don't make very good pets.

a pole cat is in the same family as ferrets. totally different from cats. they are litter trainable but i would not advise it sharing a litter tray with a cat.

No, its not related to cats, it would probably kill a cat. Here's a link to the BBC fact sheet - they are amazing animals, but they are rare in the UK, and probably not suitable for a house pet, although they have been kept as pets, particularly when crossed with its close relative the ferret.

I think its a type of weasel. They live in trees and eat birds and their eggs especially small mammals ... like cats.
