My job requires me to lift things and bend down alot. I've recently started playing basketball and my knees are so sore. It hurts especially when i hop in and out of my truck. Has anyone ever experienced this and if so what did you do?

Exercise? if so which kind
i tried icing my knees afterwards and that helps alot but the more i play ball the heavier my legs feel cause my knees are so sore.
thx

I have had 2 knee surgeries in the last 3yrs, I work as a mechanic in a ship yard where I live so I do quite a bit of lifting, bending, climbing . So I can relate to your situation you sound like your a young guy so you should go to a doctor and have them refer you to a ortho doc that specializes in the knee. As far what exercises you can do you should get checked 1st bit always stretch. Sounds like you have jumpers knee or the 1st signs of Synovitis which can lead to Osteoarthritis which is not good. I have have both of these conditions so don't wait till you tear something in your knee.

I would guess it's a beginning of arthritis. I've been there. Although I've had knee surgery and expect more it's because I didn't take the time to see my Doctor and have it taken care of when I should have.
This is what my orthopedic surgeon gave me for the building up of the cartilage in my body but, he also said it was unknown if it real works well for everyone. He said If I wanted to try it, go for it.

Glucosamine and chondroitin Sulfate: He said you get it over the counter or at any health food store.

Ice packs work well for me also.

Have you gained weight recently? Could you have Lyme disease (my sis got arthritis in her knees after getting Lyme)... I would try heat since the cold isn't helping... and check out your sneakers... are they supporting your basketball jumping?? You actually sound like my husband... he is not fat, and actually in pretty good shape... for a 35 year-old... but sometimes, your joints will suffer as you age... especially if you have been inactive with those joints. It's all about impact... and shocking the body back into different activity.

i get pain in my knees, too. what i do, in order to keep my joints lubed and to prevent my arthritis to get worse, is rub castor oil on them, knees, elbows, shoulders, hips, etc ... this will help lube cause it penetrates to the joint. i've been doing it for a few weeks now & it works. you should try it. doesn't cost much and it may help you. especially cause you bend your joints A LOT.

Firstly it's because or 'coz not cause - you just have to be from the Kindergarten Continent!

If you're knees hurt don't keep pushing them, because if you dislocate your knee, you could be in real trouble - have a holiday take a cruise or something - let your body rest!
