This could be from the cervical spine. It seems to come from one shoulder and goes up the neck, over the ear and across the head to one eye.
It may also go into the shoulder and down the arm into the fingers, making them painful, creating twitching or seizures.

This could be from a pinched nerve, spinal stenosis, the vertebrae pressing on a nerve, a bulging disc.
So, you see it can come from a number of things. I would see my doctor, let him make a diagnosis and then he'll probably order MRI's of the area or CAT's and then the radiologist will read them and let him know a diagnosis.
Then you can be sent to the appropriate doctor for this.

Like it shoots down from your head into your arm?

I think mine is partially due to muscle spasms in my shoulders. They are constant - and probably squeeze the nerve.

Could be neuronal problems caused by sports injury?
