Not for me, but for my husband. He has a total of 14 points on licence for driving without insurance twice about 2 years ago. He has now been pulled over again for same reason although he did have insurance bank cancelled direct debits so insurance hadn't been paid... Does it look like disqualification?

if it is in Britain , i do not know how he got 14 points without losing his licence, for 12 points means automatic 6 months disqualfied, plus fine.
NOW THE NEWS YOU WILL NOT WELCOME, if in the u.k., then third time for no insurance it is prison sentence , but may well be suspended for something like 2 years or more , then a very heavy fine on top of that , plus a loss of licence for at least two years. SORRY BUT THAT IS WHAT TO EXPECT.
what i do think is that the first offence was 6 points and that as run out , but he as got another 8 points for his second offence, so as i have said , it is a loss of licence this time.

The bank won't have cancelled the direct debit just like that. Looks like they weren't able to pay it because of lack of funds. Someone's telling porkies.

I doubt he has 14 valid points and still has a licence, either some points have expired or he's driving without a licence.

Anyway, this is the third time & he's going to get the book thrown at him, with good reason. Could well mean disqualfication, could also add a hefty fine, could also add community service, or even a spell inside.

Please tell him the general opinion of him on here.

With 14 points , he should not have a licence , once 12 points have been put on ones licence it should have been taken away.

As for driving without insurance , thats a very big problem , a large fine , disqualiffication and sometimes prison

The fact that a direct debit was cancelled would not of itself cancel a policy unless the insurer has followed their cancellation procedures - see your policy booklet/ IDD.

I therefore assume the insurer sent you a 7-day recorded delivery letter advising you the policy was about to be cancelled and you were too lazy to pick it up.

Your husband was VERY lucky he was not disqualified before and the magistrate will have no sympathy that he has abused the trust that was placed in him.

I think you'll find that technically he is already disqualified. he would not have got insurance and the only reason the DD wouldn't have been paid - if there was one would be lack of funds or the ins. co. not requesting it because his insurance is null and void.

Sounds like he is lying to you. He will also probably be done for no tax, if he produced a false document to buy any. Have you actually seen this licence?

If he had 14 points on his licence then surely he should have been banned a long time ago.
I was under the impression that once you got to 12 points you'd lose your licence.
Either way, looks like he's gonna get banned. Never mind, he'll get it back eventually, though he may have to take his driving test again.

No sympathy from me I'm afraid. Driving without insurance is a definite NO. You are automatically disqualified if you tot up 12 points on your licence, so having 14 points on his licence he would already be disqualified and any insurance policy that he has in force will be null and void. Disqualification is too good for him because he hasn't learnt his lesson. I've had to deal with many people in my career that have gotten a rough deal by their vehicles being hit by people without insurance. It causes no end of misery. Worse still accidents involving uninsured drivers and injury.

With a bit of luck he will get his well deserved ' come-uppance', but today's courts will probably give him a holiday for two at a resort of his choice, if he promises not to do it again until next friday at the earliest. He is a waste of space, with a very tiny brain, if he can't drive properly and safely, he should pack it in and leave the roads safer for us real motorists.

Everyone has come to the same conclusion, your husband is being stupid and very irresponsible. Prisons are bursting at the seams, so imprisonment depends on the judge on the day. Definite ban I'm afraid.
