the bible is the word of god because it's written in the bible that it's the word of god? does this mean that if the men who wrote down "god's" word into the bible wanted to lie about it being the word of god, god would have stopped them? wouldn't this interfere with their free will?

You think God would let man lie about Him in a book as impotant as the Bible? God only used the men that He knew woulnd't try to alter what God is and is to come.

People who believe in God (Christian people that is) do believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. It is for them the guideline for life along with the history of their faith. Is it totally 100% accurate? Probably not. I can't think of anything that is written by man that I would consider 100% accurate. Read some of the history books from about 50 years ago. Amazingly different then they are today.

When you are using any written material to understand something...whether it be the history and purpose of Christianity or on the theory of evolution, the person reading it must assume that what is written is true even if some of it does not make sense...even to us. The Bible has been pretty much the same since the original scrolls were written. Yes, some wording has been changed in translations but the basic premise has remained the same. I would love to be around about 1500 years from now to see what science has to say about their writings of 2007. Somehow I don't think they will even come close.

You can twist things all you want...but God will remain the same...and you will not be able to change that...so I guess you are just going to have to live with it. Sorry.

The proof that the Bible is God's Word lies in the prophetic statements which have been made and later fulfilled.

Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible except for the last chapter telling about his death, which was probably written down by Joshua, the next leader of the nation of Israel.

Those people knew that Moses' writings were from God and since then they were very good at saving the writings of the prophets, even the prophets which they killed.

No part of writing the Bible interfeared with the free will of the prophet, but if you read the book of Jonah you'll learn what happens to one of God's Prophets who refused to do as he was told by God.

Straight??? The way U have so vigorously tried "Twisting Scripture" today, I'm not sure U can grasp "Straight"??? First Ur Assumption IS making an Ars out of U not Me in that U Acknowledge a God Could have stopped or even killed them & written it Himself since He is All Powerful!!! Then with the next keystroke, U try to cast dispersions about the Bible being Dictated Directly by God!!! And finally U again try to Discredit God by saying He Interfered with someones "Free Will". U KNOW, through Ur OWN Life, that God doesn't Interfere with Anyone, look how U have turned out??? So have U made it Ur "Lot in Life" to just hang here causing Chaos because U have pent up Anger for how U have turned out trying to Blame God for Ur bad Decisions, is that it??? Don't like Ur Life, let Christ have it !!! John

NO NO NO NO!!!! You've got it all wrong! Humans have free will no matter what. God doesn't stop you from lying, you'll just go to hell. If you picked up a dictionary and wrote Bible on it that doesn't make it a bible. Sure humans can lie but if you lie about what's in the word of god, then it's not god's word anymore... it's your word.

Non-Christians have a very hard time understanding Christians. And believe it or not, I understand that. I am sure that none of the Biblical writers knew at the time they were writing , that their words would be composed in a book to one day be considered"The Word of God". As followers of Christ, and before Christ, followers of God, they wrote from their heart as they were inspired by God to write. They had no reason to lie and being Godly men, they didn't. If they had, their writing would have been refuted and never be compiled in the Bible as we know it today. Some exaggerated stories were written, that have little or no basis for truth, and some of these are included in the "Apocrypha". Some of the Apocrypha was considered to be fact, but the rule of thumb in choosing what to include in the Bible and what to leave out, was "if the writer is believed to have lied, or exaggerated in any of his writings, it must be assumed that all of his writings are false". I hope this answers your question.

The Word of God transforms lives as does NO other book. THAT'S how you know it's the Word of God. THAT, and because so much of Bible prophecy has come to pass.....

There are hundreds of thousands of other things you can choose to believe if you want to....does God interfere with your decision? Nope....What YOU decide seals your fate....He's already done all He can for you to enjoy eternity with Him..

Free will merely means you CHOOSE to believe or you don't....simple concept; I don't understand why people can't see the forest for the trees......

Peace!

There are some things God does not allow. In other words, free will is related to who you choose to follow in life, not necessarily that God lets you do whatever you want. I think your definition of free will is a little bit off. God can control people's actions. He will not force you to follow him, but sometimes God does step in and prevent certain people from being able to do certain things. For example, he may let a criminal get arrested. A criminal's will is to be out of jail, but that does not mean he gets to do it. God will not make the criminal love him and his free will is what caused him to do the criminal actions, but sometimes God does put the reigns around human activities if it violates His will.

The Bible is the Word of God because it is the Word of God.

Get that straight.

It's like saying my word is my word because I said it. Other people may write down what I say, but it is still my word because I said it.

It is as easy as that!

66 books in the New Testament and the Old, and they all agree. Try to find that kind of consensus anywhere.
