Bible says, when you pray & ask, God is generous in giving you wisdom. So I would say ask.

There is only one way to know. Listen to the teaching of His Church, the biblical "pillar and foundation of truth", for "whatsoever it binds upon earth is bound in heaven". Some try to substitute the Bible for the authoritative teaching of Christ's Church, but 500 years and 20,000 conflicting, contradicting manmade denominations later, it is obvious that that system just doesn't work.

Jesus said, if any man will do my will, he will know of the doctrine, whether it be of God or whether I speak of myself. The Holy Ghost can reveal the truth of all things to us if we will ask God, in the name of Christ, having faith, humility and sincerity. We will feel the answer in our hearts and in our minds that the thing is true or false; calm and comfortable if true and confused and uncomfortable if wrong.
