You are correct, compared to God, human beings are absolutley insignificant. Except he proclaimed us to be the special beings that he would bestow his wonderful blessings upon. It is said tat he created us in his image, maybe that means we have the potential to climb to the same level of importance that he resides at.

Humans have only the importance that the infinite God gave them.

It's only if I DON'T believe in an infinite God that I need to fill the gap with human importance.

Genesis 1 verse 26 says, Then God said,"let us make people in our image,to be like ourselves. They will be masters over all life. The fish in the sea,the birds in the sky, and all livestock, wild animals and small animals".
God is infinite and he chose to create us and to have a relationship with us. Do you know him?

True. We are insignificant. Look at the vast universe, and you cannot help but to conclude the same.

The only reason the we are important is because God decided that we were important (at least to him).

Well... that is tough. I believe anything compared to god is pretty insignificant- but he does not believe that- God wants us to value our life because he is the one who gave it to us- and value others also... remember that we are all created in his image

I believe that God's spirit lives within everything, including every individual human being. That's what makes us significant in my mind. Which isn't to say, however, that I think we're significant on a cosmic scale. When it comes to that I just say "oh well" =)

Just my opinion for consideration, hope it helps!
