Did you know that in Islam, the actual religion and not the wannabe cultures, it is not the wife's duty to cook, clean, or even do anything she doesn't want to do? Did you know that the main purpose for marriage was to make intercourse lawful, and that even when children result she doesn't have to nurse them if she does not want to? Did you know that if she does do the housework, it is a charity to her husband and he may not utter a single complaint? Did you know she also has the right to demand payment for her work, including in the rearing of the children? Why do so many people like to blame the religion for it, when it's culture that is the culprit? I've studied the religion since I was 14 (I'm 23 now), and have come across what those who hate Islam have come across. The difference is that I bothered to look further and find out what the things in appearance were actually about, while those who still remained in ignorance chose to believe what they were told. Did you know this

It's not that I wouldn't want to nurse my child, I nursed both of them and my 15 month old son is still nursing. The point is, islamically, I can demand payment if I so wanted. I personally feel nursing is the best for a child, but that is me, I'm not all women.

Yes I did know this, and thank you for bringing it to the attention of others, though some don't seem to want to open their minds... I am fortunate to have a husband who knows these things too and would never treat me in any way that wasn't compatible with Islam. I am a lucky woman! Alhemdulilah!!!

sure i understand Islam provides women human beings many rights your the final option. the difficulty is this no person follows the examples set forth by making use of the Prophet Mohammed(pbuh). Therefor we confuse what's way of life and what's faith in Islam. I see many Muslims donning Hijab and that's the only ingredient which makes them a Muslim. comparable to Christians.

Then perhaps it's the culture, and not the religion itself, that needs to be called into question. Most women in exclusively Muslim countries are NOT treated in the way you describe, so either way, something's not quite right. If you'd prefer that Islam be kept out of it, would you then suggest that the cultures where Islam is prevalent be scrutinized for violations of basic womens' rights?

it sounds like you have not studied its holy book as much as you have studied the religion itself. I will keep quotes to myself but your quran is full of sexist comments about women and chauvunistic comments about men. Plus your religion does not make it conducive for women to have careers and work outside the home so the setup you just described to me is a situation where a man runs the household and can employ the woman to clean it and take care of it and their children or else she will have to beg him for money because she has no means of making any herself. Who would you say sounds like the master in this setting and who sounds like the slave? I hope you are male asking this question but if you are female, it is most important that you do not insist on blinding yourself to these sexist ideologies.

PS: AJ highlights some of the quotes i was talking about. How do you explain these? That Islam says you are worth half of what a man is but woohoo! you get paid for being domesticated anyway?

Aren't they the ones who believe that a guy went to heaven on a flying donkey?

If I were them I would demand mental help not money.
