my boyfriend is 2 years older than me, my ex was 4 years older.. why do girls go for older guys? and why do guys go for younger girls? i do it myself but i dont understand it! Anyone got any ideas?

I do the same thing. I've gotten to the point where there are times when I wont even look at a guy my age. Most people say that it is because of maturity levels. Girls are supposed to mature faster than guys so theoretically a guy a little older would be at your maturity level. I guess for me it might just be the idea that he might know a little bit more and be more experienced. Plus older guys tend to have outgrown their childish know-it-all attitude and are more willing to look at the whole picture before jumping into things. For me they tend to be more understanding. I think for some guys they like younger girls because it empowers them but I'm sure there are more reasons than that.

My opinion women who like older men is looking for the maturity and establishment. A woman looking for a younger man could be the sex or some fun. A man looking for the younger woman and usually they are much younger than them to see if they still got it. They believe they are more sexually active and less used up. Men don't know that some of those younger women have been around the block massive times. That older women loose their shapes and beauty and start to wrinkle. Like the men don't. I could go on. I'm not trying to bash the male species but they are a little different than women reasons.

No-one really knows, some girls say that older men can treat a girl better because they don't play so many games, which believe me is not true at all. I'm 24 my current boyfriend is 31, my ex is 37. If you get along with the guy then age should never matter.

Girls tend to like older guys. Aside from a little touch of class and stature, the older guys have been around a little sooner than girls which is not to say that they are more mature. Many years ago I dated a girl 3 years younger than me. She felt validated as a woman that an older guy wanted her. I only dated and ultimately married a younger woman. They had yet to lose their innocence, their gleam, their resilience, their budding sexuality nor their smile. If you marry a younger woman, they will always be your younger woman.

I think it has to do with maturity. Most women are much more responsible and mature than men! At least that's what I have seen. If a girls wants to find a guy with her same level of maturity and intelligence, she has to be looking for guys that are few years older or more. And guys are just intimidated by woman their same age, Even if they date girls that are a few years younger, they are still shooting for the stars.

I've asked girls this question before and they say "Maturity"... the funny thing is that half of these girls can't even pronounce maturity, let alone define it.
Girls say that its proven that boys mature later than girls so thats why they go for older guys.
But its whatever floats ones boat really So I cant really say.. but I'm sure if you ask around the most common answer you'll get is maturity.
However, I dont see why Guys go for younger girls... thats a bit iffy to me.

An old man once told me that women are like cars. Some are made for racing, and some are made for driving. When your younger you want the fastest best looking car on the block. When you get older, your ready to slow down, and you get the family truckster. In my opinion there's a third type. The one you like to take on a Sunday stroll thru the Country with the top down. You don't care if its a little banged up, or has a little rust on the fenders. Because you like the way it drives, and you don't care who sees you with it because darn it you just love it, and its always been there for you when you needed it.
Now, my wife if 6 years older than me. I've had the ones made for speed, and am still paying on the maintenance. But, for my wife. She's my convertable with the top down, head'n on our Sunday stroll, every day!

The guys go for younger girls because they are more likely to be virgins, sad but true. And the girls go for older guys because they think that it might make them seem older and more mature by dating someone a certain number of years.

1. Girls like to be protected. Guys like to be the protector. That's difficult if the girl is older than him.
2. Guys mature way slower than girls. Sorry, but it's true. Often girls go for guys older than them to find someone who doesn't talk about farts and burps constantly.
3. Harsh, but older boyfriends are useful cos they can drive. A guy'll feel emasculated if his gf drives her everywhere.
4. Apply principle #3 to paying for drinks/meals. Older guys tend to have jobs.
5. "cute" factor in younger girls. Also, sadly, often easier for guys.
6. Older person wears the trousers often. Men want to wear the trousers. Many women like being bossed. Therefore.

I'm 32 and my gf is 25. I wouldn't date anyone my age. A girl my age is too mature for me and 25 works out just right.
I want to go to the river and do the fun stuff. When she's ready to settle at 28 I'll be by that time too.
A girl my age would want to settle and have kids right now and it's something me and most guys don't want to do.
