Sportsmen wear special clothing when outdoors for a # of reason's.
Specialized fishing clothes "dry" faster than regular clothing. They also "Breathe" easier and are generally more "durable". They have "numerous pockets" for storing gear and come in "fish friendly colors" like Green, Sky Blue, Dark Green, Khaki, ETC. "Columbia" brand is probably the best, but I'm sure they're are other brands that work well too.

It depends on what kind of fishing you're doing . Bank fishing requires little in the way of clothing . Fly fishing requires waders and a vest for extra supplies as you'll be walking out in the water . Ocean fishing can be cold and wet so it's a good idea to have warm clothing and rain slicker in case .It's also a good idea to have a hat to protect your head from the sun .

If you notice traditionally fishing clothes are often a tan color. This is not to spook the fish along the shorelines. This is very common in fly fishing clothes. For example the hat the vest and the waders are often the tan brown color to fit in with the environment of the lake/river.

There are lines of clothing designed to make it more enjoyable. Some clothes now have bug repellent built into the fabric. Some clothes keep moisture away from your skin and help with keeping you warm or cool.
Other clothes have pockets designed to help you carry more 'stuff' if you are hiking or spending the whole day fishing.

No real special clothes needed that I know of...fly fishermen have to have the wading boots for standing in a river and many like a good vest or hat to put their fave lures on for quick and easy access. Life jacket is always a good thing to have if you're in very deep water and don't forget the sunscreen or bug repellant and plenty of water to drink!

The best fishing shirt I have is made by Columbia. It is long sleeved and has vents in it. It keeps bugs off of you and keeps you from getting sun burned.
You can find it in any outdoorsy clothing store, such as Bass Outlets or Worldwide Sportsman

good answer already and will get my vote!
I need to add though with the design of the clothing is comfort and mobility too often forgot while fishing.(looser fits, wide back and shoulders)Nothing can be worse than being dressed to uncomfortable for what, where and how you are fishing.

people who fish try to wear dark colored clothes to blend in with the surroundings where they are fishing. you wouldn't wear a white t shirt around a stream because you could spook the fish
