I'm sure we can't count the catholics that say the rosary everyday all over the world. In the Hail Mary prayer it specifically states, blessed art thou among women, in which is all in Luke also. People think that catholics worship Mary, we do not. We ask her to pray for us, and as far as the Hail Mary prayer, It is a prayer quoted from the bible. You are correct, it is all in Luke. I certainly think more people should say it. I wonder why ministers and members of other congregations have a problem with it. They don't mind if I ask them to pray for me. They always say sure. Do they think they can pray for me better than she can and she's Christ mother and is already in heaven with him?

Actually Midge, I hate to disagree with you on thins one, but the majority of Christians do call her blessed.

We're talking 1.476 billion Christians who are either Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, or Oriental Orthodox, who have maintained the teaching that it is fit and proper to hold up the life of Mary and see it as an example of how God is wonderous in His saints, moving the faithful to trust more in God and to ask Mary for her prayers to God as one would ask any other Christian alive in Christ and still a part of His body (even if physically dead).

In contrast, Protestants among all the different branches only add up to 590 million, and even some of these, Lutherans for example (70 million world wide) have members who have Marian devotion.

Mary was blessed in the sense that she was chosen as the vessel that God used to bring Jesus into the world. The Catholic church has wrongly venerated her to having any higher status that she actually deserves. She is not the mother of God. She is not Holy. Jesus does not answer to her. Praying to anyone, including mary, is wrong. Pray to God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit.

Look at the 10 commandments. God said not to have other Gods befor him. In short, pray to God only and through Jesus.

Blessed, yes, not prayed to. You are blessed if you continue to breath.....etc.

She is obviously "blessed" for carrying Jesus, but it never says to worship her above Christ.
