Y'know, I look at them and look at them, and I think, "maybe, just maybe" and then rationale kicks in, and I start seeing why they won't work, much as I wish such a thing could. Sorry, I don't believe you'll EVER find one that actually works should you build it. But I would love for someone to prove me wrong. Really.

The idea of a magnetic motor is very intriguing - it is one of those contraptions that appears at first sight to be a very viable project to pursue.

Unfortunately, until a material is found that will block a magnetic field without any subsequent attraction to the magnets themselves, or a way to efficiently switch a permanent magnet on and off is discovered - well, simply put, the magnet engine will simply oscillate around the forces until it comes to rest when the forces are at equilibrium and in their lowest state - no longer providing any differential forces.
Don't let this discourage you from trying to build one - it's a great learning experience, even if you don't succeed.

"has anyone tried to build the magnetic motors shown on you tube?"
Well, the videos I watched didn't look like animations, so I assume someone has built them. The real question is do they work as claimed, the answer to that is no.

Are they "greater than unity" devices? Then the answer is no.

What magnetic motors are you referring to? Link please?
