Fiction. More and more scientist are coming to the conclusion it is the sun causing the current warming trend.
Astrophysicist Dr. Nir Shaviv, one of Israel's top young award winning scientists, recanted his belief that manmade emissions were driving climate change. ""Like many others, I was personally sure that CO2 is the bad culprit in the story of global warming. But after carefully digging into the evidence, I realized that things are far more complicated than the story sold to us by many climate scientists or the stories regurgitated by the media. In fact, there is much more than meets the eye.”
Mathematician & engineer Dr. David Evans, who did carbon accounting for the Australian Government, recently detailed his conversion to a skeptic. By the late 1990's, lots of jobs depended on the idea that carbon emissions caused global warming. Many of them were bureaucratic, but there were a lot of science jobs created too. I was on that gravy train, making a high wage in a science job that would not have existed if we didn't believe carbon emissions caused global warming. And so were lots of people around me; and there were international conferences full of such people. And we had political support, the ear of government, big budgets, and we felt fairly important and useful (well, I did anyway). It was great. “Unfortunately politics and science have become even more entangled. The science of global warming has become a partisan political issue, so positions become more entrenched. Politicians and the public prefer simple and less-nuanced messages. At the moment the political climate strongly supports carbon emissions as the cause of global warming, to the point of sometimes rubbishing or silencing critics,” he concluded.
Climate researcher Dr. Tad Murty, former Senior Research Scientist for Fisheries and Oceans in Canada. "If, back in the mid-1990s, we knew what we know today about climate, Kyoto would almost certainly not exist, because we would have concluded it was not necessary.”
Botanist Dr. David Bellamy, a famed UK environmental campaigner, former lecturer at Durham University and host of a popular UK TV series on wildlife, recently converted into a skeptic after reviewing the science and now calls global warming fears "poppycock." According to a May 15, 2005 article in the UK Sunday Times, Bellamy said “global warming is largely a natural phenomenon. The world is wasting stupendous amounts of money on trying to fix something that can’t be fixed.” “The climate-change people have no proof for their claims. They have computer models which do not prove anything,”
Climate scientist Dr. Chris de Freitas of The University of Auckland, N.Z., also converted from a believer in man-made global warming to a skeptic. “At first I accepted that increases in human caused additions of carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere would trigger changes in water vapor etc. and lead to dangerous ‘global warming,’ But with time and with the results of research, I formed the view that, although it makes for a good story, it is unlikely that the man-made changes are drivers of significant climate variation.”
Meteorologist Dr. Reid Bryson, the founding chairman of the Department of Meteorology at University of Wisconsin (now the Department of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences, “All this argument is the temperature going up or not, it’s absurd. Of course it’s going up. It has gone up since the early 1800s, before the Industrial Revolution, because we’re coming out of the Little Ice Age, not because we’re putting more carbon dioxide into the air,” Bryson said. “You can go outside and spit and have the same effect as doubling carbon dioxide,” he added.
Paleoclimatologist Tim Patterson, of Carlton University in Ottawa converted from believer in C02 driving the climate change to a skeptic. “[My conversion from believer to climate skeptic] came about approximately 5-6 years ago when results began to come in from a major NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) Strategic Project Grant where I was PI (principle investigator),” Patterson explained. “Over the course of about a year, I switched allegiances,” he wrote. “As the proxy results began to come in, we were astounded to find that paleoclimatic and paleoproductivity records were full of cycles that corresponded to various sun-spot cycles. About that time, [geochemist] Jan Veizer and others began to publish reasonable hypotheses as to how solar signals could be amplified and control climate,” Patterson noted. Patterson says his conversion “probably cost me a lot of grant money. However, as a scientist I go where the science takes me and not were activists want me to go.” Patterson now asserts that more and more scientists are converting to climate skeptics. "When I go to a scientific meeting, there's lots of opinion out there, there's lots of discussion (about climate change). I was at the Geological Society of America meeting in Philadelphia in the fall and I would say that people with my opinion were probably in the majority,”
Paleoclimatologist Dr. Ian D. Clark, professor of the Department of Earth Sciences at University of Ottawa, reversed his views on man-made climate change after further examining the evidence. a few years ago, I decided to look more closely at the science and it astonished me. In fact there is no evidence of humans being the cause. There is, however, overwhelming evidence of natural causes such as changes in the output of the sun. This has completely reversed my views on the Kyoto protocol,” Clark explained. “Actually, many other leading climate researchers also have serious concerns about the science underlying the [Kyoto] Protocol,” he added.
Environmental geochemist Dr. Jan Veizer, professor emeritus of University of Ottawa, converted from believer to skeptic after conducting scientific studies of climate history. “I simply accepted the (global warming) theory as given,” Veizer wrote on April 30, 2007 about predictions that increasing C02 in the atmosphere was leading to a climate catastrophe. “The final conversion came when I realized that the solar/cosmic ray connection gave far more consistent picture with climate, over many time scales, than did the CO2 scenario.”

I've read so much on this subject and am finding it's becoming a 50 50 stance. If you agree that global warming is a fact you get the thumbs up. If you disagree then you get the thumbs down. I'm finding that instead of taking everything as gospel I'm starting to rely on commonsense. If heat from the sun comes through our atmosphere to warm us then why can't it go back the other way when the sun sinks below the horizon. In summer our days are long and nights are short and we have warmer conditions. In winter , nights are long , days are short and we are cooler. In winter I open the curtains to let the sun in to warm the house up but at night I have to draw the curtains to retain that warmth.
If CO2 lets heat reach the the earth then what stops it from letting the heat out again? Scientist will have us believe CO2 is going to rise up and form a layer around the globe and warm things up. If CO2 is light enough to do this how come you can smother a fire with a CO2 fire extinquisher .
I think the jury is still out on this subject of Global Warming and until then millions will be made by a few, millions will be lost by the masses and undeveloped countries will be stopped from developing. Countries such as China and India have the resources to develop what ever they want and will be beyond control from anyone else.

FACT!! Global Warming is totally a fact. An increase of 1 degree F has been recorded in the past 19th century. There are signs everywhere. For example on Mt. St. Helens' top used to be completely frozen. You have an aerial view of it now and all you will see is water. Another example one of the thousands of islands of the beautiful Bahamas is now completely underwater from the melting of the ice at our poles. Global Warming is also killing our coral reefs. This will not only affect the beautiful sites the earth has to offer, but humans as well. Dangerous heatwaves will kill millions of people in the world. Many of the crops that we depend on will die due to a drastic decrease in rain fall. Melting of the earth's poles is another factor of global warming which is deadly to humans because it will flood coastal areas which means major sities like NewYork City, Miami, New Orleans will be completely flooded due to premanent coastal flooding. If that is not enough evidence that global warming is happening, search global warming in google images and and there is much more.
Don't believe the trash that some politicians are talking about saying it isn't happening. The only reason they say that is becuase if they don't they will loose profit on gasoline sales and won't make as much money using alternative resources that are non-polluting.
Some ways to stop global warming is to conserve energy such as turning off a TV or a computer when not using them. This will also help you saving you money. You can also recycle products such as milk comtainers or cardboard boxes. Buying flourescent light bulbs also helps a lot. Buying recycled products such as recycled toilet paper, or recycled paper towels which are just as good and even cheaper.
Please save your only home. It is the only thing we have.

Fact:
1. The Earth's average temperature has increased by about 1°F (0.5°C) over the past century.
2. Seventy-five million years ago, the Earth's average temperature was about 10°F (5.6°C) higher than it is today. Almost everywhere the climate was warm and humid.
3. http://globalwarming.enviroweb.org/ishappening/warmcentury/img/temphist_3.gif
4. How a Greenhouse Traps Heat
Sunlight passes through greenhouse glass and warms the ground inside. Heat rising from the ground warms the air; the glass prevents the air from escaping, so the greenhouse retains the heat.
How the Atmosphere Traps Heat
Sunlight passes through the atmosphere and warms the planet's surface. Heat rising from the surface warms the atmosphere; gases in the atmosphere absorb some of the heat and reflect it back to the ground. This warming process is called the greenhouse effect.

I don't care if it is fact or fiction.
Most of the human-related things that are believed to contribute to global warming make common and economic sense to remedy whether man-made global warming is real or just theory.
For example, reducing gasolione and fossil fuel comsumption will reduce CO2. But that can simply come from getting better fuel economy because CO2 emissions are in direct relation to gasoline consumption -- cut consumption 25% and you reduce CO2 emitted by 25% (assuming the same mileage driven). Plus you save 25% on your fuel bill.
Use CFL bulbs and you will save more than the cost of the bulb several times over plus you reduce CO2 emissions.
Get an air conditioner wtih a higher SEER rating, and you can cut your colin gbill by 40%, again saving money and cutting CO2 emissions.
Finding a way to cut dependence on decadent regimes that control oil resources is not just sensible in global warming terms, but critical in terrms of national security. Terrorists would have a lot less money to spend on their activities is the oil barons didn't have so much cash to pass around.
To me this is rather like the philosopher-mathematician Pascal's view about whether or not there is a God. He thought believing in God and being wrong (no life after death) had less downside than not believing in God and being wrong (damnation).
Actually, believing in global warming and being wrong has an upside. Acting as though global warming is real, we can get cleaner air, reduce our extravagent waste of natural resources and save money. Even if we are wrong, we still win.
So I don't ultimately care who is right or wrong. I am encouraged by the fact that we are starting to move away from some of our more frivoulous behavior to fix a perceived problem. And not only is there no downside to taking the action, but lots of upside.

We are killing the planet and the poor animals along with it. If I could be leader of the world I would stop all oil companies and promote ethanol. I beleive that answers your question, enjoy your GREEN day! Sorry, had too much sugar made from GREENS. Global warming....

There is no ''pending catastrophes of Global Warming'' there is no doubt however a warming going on. Over time it will be followed by a cooling, which in turn will be followed by yet another warming and so on. There is nothing to panic about. The world as we know it will not end. We are not all going to perish as a result of this warming trend. Just about everything we understand to date has a pattern. This wave pattern occurs often in nature, including ocean waves, sound waves, and light waves. All of these can be graphed or illustrated with a sine wave, and as a result can then be monitored and analyzed. In the case of global temperature we just don't have enough accurate data yet to ''plot'' a pattern which would help us predict coming changes. Don't forget, the only accurate recorded data we have dates back only about 100 years, everything else is just theories and guesswork. So you see, it's just a natural cycle. In fact, if we could and did change global warming we may in fact do greater damage to the Earth's future as this current warming may be vital to it's ecosystem!
Senators in their valiant crusade against global warming will build all kinds of ''green'' projects (with our money) which will all of course go way over budget. They will also give grants (our money) to corporations to assist them in making their factories environmentally friendly. Most of these companies will be owned or will give board positions to these same senators (and their buddies). Of course none of these actions will reduce pollution in fact we will find out years (and billions of our dollars) later that they actually caused more pollution. We won't find out about this without multi-million dollar studies (which as you may have guessed, will be payed for with our money). Don't you know how ''pork barrel politics'' works?
People blindly follow the liberal's media hype about ''man creating global warming through his abuse of the Earth and it's resources'' and how ''cities will become submerged and we will all perish''. They are always saying that the earth is warming up and they cite data from millions of years but in reality we only have about a hundred years or so of accurate data, the rest is all theory (guesswork).. In fact it is probably just part of a cycle. I would imagine if we had realistic meteorological data from more than just a hundred years we would see a pattern (or frequency), not unlike sound and light waves form.
Most of it is just the liberal's media stirring things up. For example, if the polar ice caps are melting the why after only forty years in the Arctic did they find a squadron of air planes 250 feet below ice?

Want to do something that can't hurt? Ever heard of ''Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle'' (the three R's)? Major corporations are implementing it but if every individual were to practice it as well the effects would be immense.

What about desertification due to deforrestation ,but speeded up by unusual hot Suns.
Water shortage .Rising seas
Croploss due to temperature changes ,
Heat and cold weaves that are killing people .
Flasfloods .
Mass exstinction of Flora and fauna ,many animals are becoming sick because of SMALL changes in temperature .
Insects are affected and some are going out of control such as the parasites that are killing the bees.
Vital links in the food chains are disapearing affecting other species further along in the chain.
We are witness to a mass exstinction ,for the first time since the dinosaurs, of the earth's estimated 10 million species, 300,000 have vanished in the past 50 years. each years, 3,000 to 30,000 species become extinct.
Everything is happening so fast it is not possible to monitor things any more.
------------------------------..
FACT OR FICTION
many People are used to fiction and they feel more comfortable with fairytales instead of the truth.
Many blindly believe that our fate is in Gods hands ,and their focus is on the beautifull heaven.
------------------------------...
Change effects many peoples incomes, and upsets profit margins,so most of the world is kept in the dark of the real things that are going on.for political and economic reasons .
------------------------------...
HOWEVER CLIMATE CHANGE IS FACT FOR MILLIONS
Global warming is a very complex collection of many effects
This text only covers some aspects of global warming mainly man made desertification
Industrial contamination ,the contaminating effects of the cities ,is another story
There are natural cycles in the planets life
but mans existance has its effects, and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms.
In North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result.
In china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms, that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert.
The Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and many of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were very few desserts.
Collectively this planet´s arable lands are drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,
Each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss
There is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
Each year 70 million more people have to eat and drink and wash
Farmers are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary , over grazing, overpumping deep carbon aquifiers.
RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
This does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.
The melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.
http://www.greenpeace.org/international/...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/natur...
if forrest are being exchanged for ashalt, concrete and desserts, what is gonna keep this planet habitable for us.
We as humanity can behave in a less stressful manner as far as the Environment is concerned ,but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen.

The data is not there . CO2 look at it .in this molecule there is 2 times as much O as there is C. if there was that much O tied up to C there would be a decrease in the oxygen. Normally it is 20.9% and it is just that. If it were to drop below 19.5% u would pass out.
