Yes it burns.
Careful! An explosion is unlikely, but there was a case where a surgical patient died when the surgeon nicked his large intestine with a heated cauterizing scalpel and an explosion resulted.
(A true bit of trivia there. As I recall, the incident occurred somewhere in Texas, but that, fortunately, is a rare event.)

Yes. I saw one of my dorm-mates in college foolishly burn his a** by trying that stunt.
