Dog food is easier for people to feed, you're right. Although, some dogs would be better off being fed random scraps than some of the crap people buy for them. What you're feeding sounds similar to a Raw or Barf diet. I don't know a whole lot about either of those except I do know that dogs do not have much of a need for fruits, veggies or grains...they can't digest most of them. I know there's a zillion websites dealing with both of these diets so you should look at them and see what you have to adjust in your routine. Also, I'd consult with your vet to make sure your dog is getting all the nutrients that he needs, in the amounts that he needs.

Go to www.petfinder.com
This is a rescue site that lists many good shelters and rescue groups. Just type in the criteria and your location. Lots of available dogs will appear!
They have dogs of all ages listed, including some puppies.
These rescues know the temperament of the dog and you most likely won't have any "unexpected surprises."
Some rescues and breeders will not give you a dog if you say it is for a present. Just tell your mom to tell them that the person receiving the present (you) is well aware of the gift, has researched the breed, and knows about the huge commitment they are about to take.

First you can try www.petfinder.com. There are many poms ranging from puppies to senior on there looking for home. These dogs are fostered in people homes and are treated like family. They are UTD on shots and most are already spayed or neutered.
I would look there first. Lots of wonderful little pommys there.
If you do not find one you like, you can always look for pom breeders.
Good luck, You will have a wonderful time with your new pom.

go to your local pounds, they're your best bet, you're killing two birds with one stone actually. pound dogs are usually healthier believe it or not. and they also really need a home, so you're probably wanting to look at all your local shelters and adoption centers. I wouldn't recommend petfinder.com because you just don't know exactly what you're finding. so go look for yourself, like i said at a shelter, you can find a great dog there!

Like, you sound like a teenage girl, so like, it's probably better if you wait to get a dog until you're older because, like, you probably can't give a dog the attention it needs because, yeah, you're more into your friends and boys right now?
