Yes! (whispering).. there are some places that don't allow smoking but will give you an ashtray if you ask ... you find them by word of mouth.

For the most part, yes.

However, there's are two loopholes in the law (Labor Code, Section 6404.5):

1- Smoking is still allowed outdoors (which some bars interpret to mean a hole-in-the-roof 'patio' or tiny-outcropping 'balcony')

2 - Since the smoking ban was enacted under the auspices of protecting employees rather than customers, bars with no employees are exempt. That is, if the owner(s) do all the bartending and cleaning, they are allowed to put themselves at risk. They just can't hire anyone else.

I agree with the above post. Not ALL bars are smoke free...depends on the owner and if he cares to inforce it. You are more likely to find people smoking in little hole in the wall places.

Yes, thankfully.
You can't smoke inside, but you can smoke on the outdoor patios.
