Bought $1500.00 refridgerator from Sears, the condensor died one month after warranty expired. Under their repair agreement (additional 219.00) they will only replace the refridgerator if repairing it exceeds $500.00. It had to be fixed again 3 months later, something with the temperature sensor. Now, 6 months after the condensor was replaced, it appears to be going out again. Sears will give me $500.00 towards replacing my 17 month old $1500 refridgerator-if they deem it unfixable, AND if I replace it with another Sears product. Isn't that lovely? Like I want another defective appliance from them!! Any advice, consumer action group, someone who could help with this? Or should we just consider ourselves out of luck?

BBB

also look for a blog to discuss you issue retailers are looking at these more carefully now. Look at the lemon clause in the warranty to see what you can do to help this.

Was this the final word from the store? Have you contacted the manufacture? Have you contacted the Sears corporate office?

There are many other ways to get satisfaction. Local media has taken an interest in what goes on in the big box stores.

This could also end up being a lesson in where not to shop. Do your part and spread the work on the bad service you got.

hope it works out for you!

here what i will tell you-- even thou it is out of warranty you can still get a new fridge( that's right - new)

I had a problem with my PC it was 3(!) years past the warranty, and CD-writer broke on it. after about month of complaining and manufacture trying to fix/send me new CD-writers.. they just replaced the whole computer (which consdering the fact that my PC was 4 years old-- was a big upgrade.

so what i would suggest is demand to speak to Excutive support. (right now you are just talking to a regular support, and no -- the manager is not excutive support. excutive support is whole other department). have them try to fix your fridge but whatever they do(once they finish working) -- tell them it still does not fix the problem. Eventually they'll give up-- and replace the whole unit

I would just forget about that piece of junk and buy a model that doesn't have the word "Sears" branded on it. They only sell junk and then milk your wallet for all it' worth and then some! Do yourself a favor, Scrap that one and buy another one that has an actual warranty not lazy, headache causing excuses! When it comes to Sears you are just asking for a headache! When it comes to removing that piece of junk just tell me and I'll have it fitting in your garbage can in no time!
IT WILL ONLY TAKE 10 MINUTES!!!! REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
