i have heard this before but in reality i would rather someone keep their sunglasses on then be squinting in order to talk to me. i think if you are addressing someone older you should remove your sun glasses or if in a business situation definitely but in everyday life i say keep the sun glasses on.

If you both have on sunglasses it may be okay, like hanging at the beach. But if you are having a deep conversation it would be best to remove them and make eye contact.

If you're outdoors and it's sunny, it has nothing to do with politeness or lack thereof, and everything to do with protecting your eyes. It may be harder to read someone's face when they have sunglasses on, but I don't think it's any harder than reading the face of someone who's squinting in the bright sun!

I think it depends on the conversation and with whom.
If you run into your boss or a co-worker, it would be polite to speak eye to eye.
If you get asked a random question about where the nearest Taco Bell is I dont see why you have to take them off.
Generally I would take them off if the conversation turns lengthy, but a quick question or chat wouldnt be too bad,

I suppose it could be considered rude. I have never really thought of it as rude.
Eye contact is suppose to be a big deal and dark sunglasses would interfere with that...

Great question! I hope I get the answer b/c I do this all the time.
IMHO, I think that if you are both in a place where it's sunny, it's acceptable to talk to someone whilst wearing the shades. If you are inside, I don't think it is acceptable.

Not in broad daylight. Wearing sunglass inside a building is not only rude, its pretentious.

I think that unless you both have on sunglasses, yes it is, because if one of you are trying to make eye contact, you can't! You use eye contact to get your point across, to make sure the person understands you, to see the other's reaction. I think it is rude.

No. I wouldn't be able to see the person without my sunglasses on.
