LOL!!!

Let me ask you a question, my dear follower of Christ:

How many different demonimations do you Christians have? Some believe baptism is necessary for salvation, others believe in the sinner's prayer, some believe that if you don't tithe you won't be saved, some believe that you can't go to heaven if you don't regularly attend a church service or speak in tongues, some believe in confession and others do not... and some of you believe the above so strongly that you will go so far as to tell someone that they are damned for hell if they don't comply with certain practices... There are so many variations of Christianity and how one becomes saved, but are you not all reading the same Bible? Clearly someone is twisting the scriptures here...

Where do you draw the line between 'different interpretations' and taking the scripture out of context?

Glass house, stones... you get the idea...

Because so many people who do believe in the book take words out of context and twist them. It's an equal oppurtunity thing.

How do you think scientists feel when creationists say things like "I ain't come from no monkey!", and "If we come from monkeys, why there still be monkeys? Why ain't they turnin' into people while I watch?". Talk about twisted and out of context. Hell, there isn't even a context for those, as they're complete nonsensical drivel.

The only thing those people will believe was written by a couple of handfulls of men who had their own agendas in mind around two thousand years ago, so the only way to reach them is to throw out random quotes from their book.

What you don't seem to realize is that there is NO ONE in this world still living who knows what the bible was meant to say. The book you read and follow every day of your life was compiled by a pagan roman emporer 300 years after the death of your god. In the 1700 years to follow, it has been translated, retranslated, copied and recopied so many times that there's no way of knowing what the original texts said. Have you ever played "telephone" in a circle with your friends and listened to how much the final message changed from the original one? And that's through five maybe 10 people over the course of 5 minutes. We're talking about 1700 YEARS and MILLIONS of people. What makes you think your book is even remotely close to what it was originally supposed to be??

This is such a silly arguement used by christians. Most passages are pretty self-explantory....putting them in "context" doesn't alter the original meaning. For example, god created evil according to scripture.....

Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

How else could this be interpreted? Isn't that pretty clear? Then what are you whining about exactly?

Because we want to show how the bible is wrong. Besides, Christians take the words of the bible and twist them to suit their own needs. Don't believe me? Then why are there so many "splinter" groups of different religions?

Because the Bible is where the vast majority of Cristian arguments come from. So by using the very thing that Christians rely on most against them it creates a much more effective argument that can manipulate the weaker minded.

Christians take the liberty of choosing which passages to take literally and which passages to take only moral value from. Non believers use those passages that are only meant for moral value to find flaws in the religion.

the story is a metaphor or allegory like any literature. ever do a book report? or analysis.

what does little red riding hood mean? Is it just a story about a girl on face value? Is there a moral or message between the lines?

Depends on who's doing it... The biggest out-of-context-takers are proof-texting "Bible Believers."

I think they are more taking choice passages out of the bible in an attempt to back up their position in why they choose not to believe in it.
