If you live in central NJ, your neighbor does not have a raven on his roof. "During the 1800s, Common Ravens retreated from eastern coastal areas. Although they once ranged as far south as North Carolina, they now occur along the Atlantic coast only from Maine to the north."
Also, no raven has a wingspan of 10 feet. " Common Ravens are the largest passerine birds in North America, with wingspans of just over four feet."
One of the largest wingspans is that of the California Condor, at approx. 9 - 9 1/2 feet...and I am quite sure your NJ neighbor did not have one of those on his roof.

I will tell ya this, the only bird that I have ever seen with anything close to that big of a wingspan, is a condor. I am not sure they can get to ten feet, but they do have a huge wingspan. A raven is the same as a crow, around here and their wingspan is only about two and a half feet, at best. I would say, he is sadly mistaken, because if he is seeing a bird with a wingspan like that, then he has a very lost condor. I know of none of them in Jersey.

Nope, not possible. Lets just say his measurement by eye is way off. The California Condor's wingspan at 9 1/2 feet in the largest for any land bird in North America and they only live in Arizona, California and Baha California.

Never heard of a raven with a wing span that big, but your neighbor's imagination is at least that big.

If there was such a thing I'm sure there would be many articles in the news paper on it.
look up the bird where you live. It coul be a hawk, vulture, heron, ect.
Your neighbor could just have bad eyesight. next he says something tell him to get a pic. of it so you can see for yourself.
