I know that Mormons have a... strange religion but Baptists and Catholics and Islam aren't exactly weirdness-free either. What are you trying to prove by this?

(Currently between religions at the moment.)

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has almost 13 million members...only a few million short of passing Judaism. Conservative Protestants are the big throng of antimormons with different doctrines and beliefs the two don't get along. But the antimormon bigotry and prejudices are wrong, we live in the 21st century. People have to learn tolerance. We don't live in the Inquisition anymore.
I'm an American and I believe in the 1st amendment of freedom of religion and believe anybody has the right to worship God any way he pleases. When that right is ready to be taken away, America will cease to be a free country.

If anyone has read the train of events in the Book of Mormon, you will come to the logical conclusion that DNA is not even nearly the best way to find out if the Book of Mormon is true or not. Why not read some of Cleon Skousen or Hugh Nibley's commentaries on it instead? The Bible and the Book of Mormon combined together are two legs for Christians to stand on, instead of just one. Come at it from a Jewish point of view. I have met some of the top leaders of our Church, including Pres. Hinckley years ago, Elder L. Tom Perry, and Elder Richard G. Scott, and when I look into their eyes, and when they speak, I know they have had a direct witness of the existence and mission of Jesus Christ. They are familiar with His personality, and they are dedicated to help His work in the world He created under God the Father. Have a happy day, and I send you a gummy bear.

We are not a Cult. We Believe in God the Eternal Father and in his Son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. They are THREE separate beings. I have never seen any Mormons going around and saying rumors about other Church's. If you have I'm sorry. We may do things that sound weird to you but you probably are the same way in our eyes. You just have to study up and see why we/you do what you do in your Church's. I always love to learn and see how other Church's teach. Have a Wonderful Day!!!!

I think that people are against mormonism because of the stories out there about so called Mormons that are whacked out... Like polygamy, etc. Every religion has some kind of extremists... but they shouldn't be used to stereotype that religion.

I have been a Mormon for some 50 years, and have benefited greatly from my membership. I have had a plan and been given a purpose and direction in life. The doctrine is consistent with what is taught in the Bible, and living it brings one closer to God than any other.
It takes effort to be a faithful Mormon, but then again, what is there really worthwhile in life that does not take effort?

One question about 13 million members?

Is that live members? Or does that include the millions of people who were baptized "in name only" through others' desire to convert millions of lifeless, soulless, and many times, bodiless entities who had previously died.

Another curiosity...
How actually are you able to baptize someone in name only; without a body to receive the Holy Spirit?

i dont think they have somethin agains the religion specifically, but just as the catholics have the resurection to struggle with, so does the modern morman struggle with his beleif that a normal man just happened to recieve a message to retrive a gold tablet and they proceed to translate that ancient egyption tablet or blocks with scrying stones.

and further that when jesus died, he made an appearence in north america

people fear what they dont understand.

Gee, I was also one for 50 years, and I found that it is precisely not what it appears; it teaches a doctrine based on nonsensical and nonexistent text, and demonizes intellectualism and independent thought - just like a "cult" would, except for the current absense of a charismatic 'leader'. The last one was shot in 1844.

"Strange" to one is absurity to another. Wouldn't you want to be warned?

This is what I know about being a Latter Day Saint and having to deal with all these slingstones and arrows fired at our direction.

For those who are doing their best to follow Christ, be it LDS, Pentecostal, Catholic, etc., they will have to go through their own trials, not too dis-similar to Christ himself. And if you look at the motivations behind who is against these various kinds of christians, you should see that The Adversary is influencing those strings greatly.

We human beings are God's greatest creation, and we were given a very unique gift compared to the rest of creation: The ability to choose to accept or deny God's will. Why did He give us that? We can only learn when we have choices to make. So, to allow us to learn, he had to allow an influence other than holiness to be in contact with us. From there, we would have to prove to not only ourselves but to God where we each really want to be. Anything else would just turn ourselves into mind-numbed robots.

A wonderful side effect of being able to choose is the existence of art and beauty in their many forms. Only the artist can choose and/or create the particular shade of green he or she wants to paint that leaf. Only the chef knows how sweet or fluffy he or she wants to bake a cake. And so on and so forth.

So, please realise that some people are right now choosing to allow themselves to be influenced by an un-Christ-like spirit. At least by your comments you are wanting to be influenced by Christ-like spirituality instead, so let me leave with you something from the Book of Mormon to help you out:

Moroni 7: 16, 17, 18; page 522

16 For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may know good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God.
17 But whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do evil, and believe not in Christ, and deny him, and serve not God, then ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of the devil; for after this manner doth the devil work, for he persuadeth no man to do good, no, not one; neither do his angels; neither do they who subject themselves unto him.
18 And now, my brethren, seeing that ye know the light by which ye may judge, which light is the light of Christ, see that ye do not judge wrongfully; for with that same judgment which ye judge ye shall also be judged.

So, I hope this helps you understand who hates christianity in general, with special extra hatred towards the LDS church. The LDS church exposes how Lucifer came to be and this church has information on how to better combat Lucifer's influences in people's lives. Some of that information is actually more freely available than people realise.

May you continue to choose well, and may you and I succeed at standing at Christ's right hand after this life.

Sincerely,
Alvin R.

People don't like people who are different, or people who claim to receive revelation from God.
