If you make money on a stock deal, do you just capitol gains tax or do you also social securties and mediacare tax on the earning?

Capital gains are not subject to FICA. Only earned income such as wages and Sch C income and the like.

NO. These taxes only apply to EARNED income. That could be from a job (W-2) or self-employment.
