For instance I've developed more of a sense of respect and to a degree admiration for Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Hindus, and Pagans and to a degree I've lost a certain amount of respect for some but not all of the Atheists, Agnostics, Freethinkers and Humanists. Has that ever happened to any of you guys as well or am I on a deserted island all by myself? What could have caused me to change my perspective?

What I mean by the question is has anybody ever lost some respect for certain people who are in the same group as they are in and found a new respect for people of a different group?

I don't judge people. If this is about our ideas...then fine...if you are getting personal, then it's crap. Everyone is different. Personally I don't care what you believe or who you like. I'm an atheist, and if I've ruffled your feathers, then my job here is done. I am who I am, and I don't back down or change my beliefs for anyone. I do have respect for many Christians here. There are some very earnest, smart, and thoughtful Christians on here. As well as Muslims, Jews, Pagans and Agnostics. I don't make generalizations about them personally. Sure, there are a lot of jerks, but I just have to assume that they are intellectually challenged or young. So, if you don't appreciate me...your loss.

No man is an island . He is part of the whole. I guess you are truly what you seek an open-minded person and have found that there is good in all and Christians are a part of the whole which makes the world go round. Yes it has happened to me and I took the bad with the good , siphoning out the bad and keeping the good that all people can be.A change in prespective can only come from a mind full of wisdom and hopefully dedicated to truth.

Maybe because sometimes the people who call themselves Athiests, Agnostics, Freethinkers and Humanists sometimes arent as clear on what they really believe and giving well thought out answers as you would like and it could be frustrating.

Like theres a lot of posers like "EWW religion!" but they really base it on nothing else but "my parents are religious and I'm doing the opposite"

because Spirit and God are the truth and some part of you intuits this. The absolute splendor of existence is far too beautiful to be an accident. Just look at the magnificence of a child, for example. Or a dog. Elephant. Jupiter. The Milky Way. Love.

no it's been the other way around for me. What must have caused you to change your perspective? How would I or anyone else here who does not know anything else about you except that you show up on yahoo Q&A once in a while, know?

I propose that you never had respect for atheists, free thinkers, agnostics, etc. to begin with.

Added: Ah, I see. Sorry about that. Yes, I have been embarrassed by some who call themselves atheists. As an example, if someone is asking for a prayer request for a dying loved one, it's not the time to mention the magical sky daddy. If you can't offer a kind word, you should probably back out of their question. There's not reason to be heartless and unkind when someone is hurting.

Since I don't know you, I don't know why you would do anything, but if you've changed your views about things, it usually suggests that you've got an open mind and that you think about things--and that's good.
On the other hand, I have little reason to care about what you respect or don't respect.
