It is a heck of a lot easier to purchase worms. But want you can do is water an area of the lawn for a couple of hours. Then when it is dark come out with a flashlight and you will find them. If it has been real dry out you might want to water the same area two days in a row. Worms were a lot easier to find as children because we were closer to the ground and had better eye site.

Good question. When I was little, I could just walk out the door of our lake house and get all the worms out of the ground that I could handle. I have tried for years now, but there arent any. Now we have to go to the store to buy them. Where are they getting them?

There are still worms in places but I understand what you mean . A lot of the subdivisions use pesticides which probably kill some . It does seem to be harder to find yards to hunt them at night
I also think I used to look for them more back then when I was younger.

There were more years ago because you were a kid and didn't mind looking for them...betcha if you pay some neighborhood kids $1 a dozen you have em in no time.
