I have a tight frenum so I called the urology department and spoke to a nurse...and made an appt. I've made a few in the last month but I'm scared so I didnt go. The nurse said there's been patients in for tight frenums of the penis and needed surgery to REMOVE it. And my regular doctor, she said the same thing. I'm just really scared... any advice??

I've seen a couple of dudes with partials. When erect, it looks like they're cut, but when flacid, they have enough to cover the head about three quarters of the way. It's not a bad look, and you kinda get the best of both worlds. The very tip of the foreskin is removed (usually where the phemotic ring is), so it's not much at all. I got cut as an adult, and wouldn't go back if I could. I love it. And, contrary to what some on here will say, I haven't lost any sensitivity. Just don't let the doc do a dorsal slit on you; that doesn't look good at all. And I don't think the preputioplasty is such a bad option; it's way less healing time than either a partial or full circumcision. You may have to have it done again later in life, but if this is your only route, it's really not a bad option at all.

Circumcision is not a small thing for two reasons. One, the pain is extreme on the third day. You need pain killers big time. Two, when having sex you slide in easy but the sensation is not the same. It's like going from color T.V. to black & white. Maybe with time it will become more flexiable or you can try medication to ease the discomfort. On the other hand some women require their husband to get circumsized to diminish their sexal drive outside of marriage, 75% of the time it works. Anyway, the affects are mostly on your side of park. The surgery is not dangerous and won't "disable" you. Good luck

Hi. When I was a nursing student, one of the adult patients had just been circumcised. He was on dilaudid, if I'm not mistaken, and he used to kid around about how he wanted to find a reason to stay in the hospital a little longer; he liked the drugs! In other words, you'll get good meds for the pain, and likely will feel only slight discomfort...Good luck.

I'm not a guy but I do have a son who had to have an emergency circumcision for almost exactly the same thing. My advice would be to have the surgery, it is a day surgery, or was for my son, and as scary as it sounds, it really isn't painful for more than a few days. You need to make a choice between a few days of pain and a lifetime of complications. Speaking as a woman, most of us prefer a circumcised man anyway. I wish you the best of luck. God Bless!

Any type of surgery (especially in such a sensitive area) is going to be at least a little painful but afterwards you will probably feel so much better that the pain of a few days will be worth it. Good luck and God Bless.

i got circumcised when i was 18. It is a really simple procedure. the only discomfort i had was when i experienced an erection (especially in the middle of the night). i was prescribed an inhaler that made the erection go away in seconds. After a week of this i was fine and back on the job if you know what i mean. i never experienced excessive pain and it sounds worse than it is.

There have been several times in my life where I've faced frightening situations, and I'm talking life threatening. And I tell myself whatever happens happens, and if I'm meant to die here or get hurt here that's that, and I take the leap. And you know what, I've always been fine. And you'll be fine too, you'll be dealing with professional nurses and surgeons you'll be in good hands.

Post this in the Men's Health section of the forum. You will get better responses and there are nurses (real ones) that will answer your questions about this sensitive topic.

Medical professionals hang out in the health section of the forum...not the singles and dating section.

Just go and have the procedure done so you can get on with your life. With technology today, the doctors will give you pain medication and if you just follow their post op instructions, you will be good as new very fast.
