Tzadiq, those who use that term are in danger of hellfire.
Matt. 5:21,22
21"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' 22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother[b]will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,[c]' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Ps 14:1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
Ps 53:1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good.
Any questions?
Edit Hello Baalam - do you have scripture to back up your allegations or are you just passing gas?
Edit - My brother and my sister according to Yahshua are those who believe.
Mt 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
If you look up the two words Raca means sensless which is the same as the hebrew word in the Psalms. The second word is moros which means godless. For me to call a brother or sister in Messiah godless is a sin.
An atheist is not my brother and quite frankly the verses then do not apply. Now if it said neighbor in the text you might have a point. You've just enough knowledge of scripture to get you in trouble. You should leave dealing with it to others till you've learned.
I also noticed that you left out the clause "without cause" how dishonest of you. You can't fool people who really read their bible
Mt 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Actually, the Bible tells christians to call no man a fool. If you are asking for the scripture concerning fools, you can read the Book of Proverbs. The issue of fools is thoroughly discussed therein.

Are you looking for the verses from 1 Corinthians, perhaps?
1:18; "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
1:23; "but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles."
2:14; "The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned."
Obviously none of these refer specifically to atheists, or any other unbelievers for that matter, as "fools" but rather that the things of God are as foolishness to them. If some Christians have used these verses as their justification, they obviously didn't read them correctly.
On the other hand, there's the parable of the rich man in Luke 12, who figured he had plenty of time to "eat, drink and be merry", but was told "you fool, this very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?"
Calling anyone "fool" who does not believe as you do is a great way to slam the door to any further communication, so for Christians in particular it would seem to be counterproductive if they're trying to share their faith.

They are not being Christians.
First Epistle Of Saint John
Chapter 2
4 He who saith that he knoweth him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But he that keepeth his word, in him in very deed the charity of God is perfected; and by this we know that we are in him.
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. 10 He that loveth his brother, abideth in the light, and there is no scandal in him.
"If we keep his commandments"... He speaks of that practical knowledge by love and affection, which can only be proved by our keeping his commandments; and without which we can not be said to know God as we should do.
11 But he that hateth his brother, is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth; because the darkness hath blinded his eyes.
15 Love not the world, nor the things which are in the world. If any man love the world, the charity of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, is the concupiscence of the flesh, and the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life, which is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the concupiscence thereof: but he that doth the will of God, abideth for ever.
To know God is to be capable of loving one another and of purity of conscience.

I additionally am proud which you're heretic - this God is the least ethical character of the bible and has actual massacred hundreds interior the so referred to as Holy e book - I recommend even devil proves to be good than him. Even for the sake of argument, enable'st say that God exists - why could i think and worship this style of bully? i could fairly worship the Queen of england! the sorrowful ingredient is - fairly of finding on the God character and what he actual did in the process the bible with a view to choose who he fairly is, no no no, they could seek for passages the place it says God is powerful, desirable loving father who does not sin, anger etc Anger interior the recent testomony is the fruit of the flesh and not the spirit - wait, Did God get indignant in any respect interior the holy e book, of path he did!!! for people who have confidence in those books, i could say they are not stupid yet BRAINWASHED via fact if that mild of actuality and fact enters them, they could snap out of their superstitious bull***** so quickly that they are going to initiate preaching atheism themselves. The bible isn't something yet a variety of of fairytales, in all probability some historic occurences with lots and an incredible style of blunders, legends and myths etc immediately the rainbow shows up via fact God made some promise to a tribe interior the midsection East that he could under no circumstances flood the earth returned? human beings outfitted sky scrapers and so God together with his entourage desperate to come back down and confuse human beings language via fact they have been getting so on the factor of heaven - PLEASEEEEEEEE those religious human beings desire deliverance!

The same way that atheists justify calling Christians fools. It's a game humans play, calling each other silly names when someone does not believe the way they do instead of just letting live and let live. I don't care one whit how you live or what you believe in. That is your business and I respect that as your right - just as long as you do the same.

Not a Christian, but it really is in the bible:
Prv:13:20:
He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Prv:14:16:
A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

The Bible tells them if they don't believe the Bible they are fools.
The Bible also says that smart people should be left out.
Amazing logic, huh?

We didn't call them fools. God did, through his servant, David. Psalm 14:1
"A fool has said in his heart , "There is no God." They are corrupt. They have done abominable works, there is none who does good."
