Poor baby!

Fortunately, that kitten is little enough to have some- for lack of a better word, flexibility. If nothing is broken, just make sure your kitten is comfortable. Hopefully the kitten will learn to stay away from doors.

Good luck!

Is the kitten able to put any 'pressure' on the hurt paw at all? Does it hold that paw in the air ALWAYS when it walks, or only sometimes. If it can't put any pressure' on the paw, and always carries it in the air, then you need to put a 'splint' on that paw ... take a popsicle stick and cut or break it into two parts. Wrap gauze around it five times (for padding) and put it so that the FLAT end is down toward the ground and about 1/4 inch BELOW the paw. Wrap enough gauze around it to 'hold' but not be 'too tight' so the kitten can put some 'weight' on that 'paw' without pain. Wait about three weeks (change the splint every 2-3 days for cleanliness) before you try to see if the bones are 'healed' properly. It may take up to six weeks, but because it's such a 'young kitten' the bones should still be 'growing and forming' and should heal faster than a human or 'larger animal' with a 'broken foot or hand' would take to heal.

I recently got a kitten that's only 6 weeks old. I was concerned that she was leaving her mom while she was so young. My kitten is doing fine. The only reason I got her so early is because if I didn't get her then the owner would have just given her away. The owner didn't really care that the kittens went to a good home. So if I hadn't picked her up then another owner could have taken her and treated her badly. Its just depends on circumstances, but I definitely agree with you. The kittens shouldn't really be leaving their moms till they are 8 weeks old.

You have a couple of options, you can take the cat to the vet, he will examine the paw to determine the possible extent of injury and xray if he suspects any fractures, and treat according to his findings. Or you can wait and see how the kitten does, if the door was not shut real hard then most likely it may just be bruised. However, if you can see external injury to the paw (broken torn skin, bleeding, exposed bone or tissue) do not wait take the cat to the vet asap!

can you find someone who is a cat person so they would help you to put the bandage on your kitten and help you with bandage out to put them on your kitten's paws but if you are very overproted of your kitten, you should let that person put on the bandage and did you take your kitten to the vet docter to check you rkitten if it look badly hurt or you didn't want to the docter. i think you should move out from the house and take your kitten because if not, your grammie will keep on hurting your kitten unitl she really hurt your kitten. (it happen to any one. so dont freak out over it very much. my brother activie kill my 9 month old cat and i find her in my bother's drawers so be care with your 8-week kitten and keep your kitten away from your grammie. i guess your grammie dont like your kitten very much)

If the cat is able to walk without a limp or drag, it should be fine, but make sure that the paw doesn't have pressure on it for a long period of time.

If the kitten's paw is swolen you need to take it to the vet as soon as poseble. You should elavat the paw too.

bandage the paw and try to keep her off of it for a while, i know it sounds funny but, hold her more and keep her on the couch(if shes allowed) and try to make sure she doesnt walk on it alot, it will slow the healing process and it will cause her more pain. good luck!

How is your kitty doing? My cat had 5 kittens about 4 weeks ago and one of them had a box fan fall over on her foot today. She is keeping weight off her back right foot, but doesn't express any pain unless I press on the foot. I was wondering what kind of outcome you had with the advice you got and whether you found the splint necessary. Thanks!

If you are a vet trainee, don't take shortcuts. The paw should be examined for fractures. Take them to the vet.
