Will Christians block Atheists, Republicans block
Democrats, Pro life block abortionists etc etc... So each group can now use yahoo as their own private propoganda platform blocking anyuser that disagrees with them.

Because this is new..I don't think alot of people know how this works..

1)If someone blocks you..you can see their questions or answers on thier profile.
Also you you can't even answer or click on to any of their questions if you see it on the site and want to answer it.
So this is a great tool..for people who want to stop those who this agree with them from answering.

2)If you are blocked..you can't click on a Q to report it.. So some troll BOT could make the worst most offensive racist question.. and them block every user.. So that their questions are now unreportable. Far fetched maybe..but it could happen.

# I meant to say you CAN'T see their Q +A #Typo - sorry.

But if you log off you can see their..Q
+A. So if you are a troll.. you could easy get offended at someone blocking you..and still stalk them, and vote against and report all their answers.

I don't think this new idea will help in the fight against trolls..but just make it worse because you are giving them a new weapon.

yup, this is just what i was thinking when i read it on another question. there are loads of decent people who have answered this saying that they'd only use it for people who are harrasing them etc. but as we know, a lot of people on here aren't like that and will take great delighting using this new feature in a stupid way. people already report people who disagree with them, now they can gag them too. not good. diversity is what makes it interesting here

I only intend to block blatantly offensive people who are here to stir up trouble. Foul language, insinuations of religious figures engaging in sexual behavior etc, will be looked at by me. If I find a regular pattern of this, I will block them. Those who are polite and ask honest questions, even if the question seems blasphemous, will not be blocked by me.

You know it, babe.

Which could make other Q-A's a bit awkward, even more people poking their noses in when they don't have the forum context for a question. Maybe the Christians should set up a network so they're clued in as to the latest manifestation of creative humour from the atheists.

;-)

No, I only block clones, trolls, and stalkers. It's a way to knock off your fan list people who have attached themselves to your from being able to track you. I suspect it will be very useful. It also keeps those people from being able to answer your question.

I would never just block someone for having a different view.

The thing is, even if you block someone, you can still see their questions and answers.

Only the closed-minded will do that. And I suspect without opposition many of them will get bored and go away. The rest of us will continue to have interesting discussions. :) Opposition is half the fun.

I hate block features. There will always be someone who will block anyone who disagrees with them.

You read my mind. What were they thinking?

It's going to become a blocking free-for-all. Soon there will be no one to post.
