My fiancee and I decided we would rather stay in the US for a honeymoon, and save money for our new house instead of an all out cruise or caribbean vacation.

We are going to treat ourselves to a second honeymoon somewhere awesome on our 10th anniversary.

Any suggestions on afforable, yet romantic and fun honeymoons that we could do in the states, or abroad-but with low budget in mind?

Thanks!

Try going on a roadtrip somewhere, or take a sunny and honeymoon-esque vacation in California.

There's the #1 inn in the world in Maine, you could try that out. http://www.whitebarninn.com/

There are tonnes of ideas, just choose something that fits your personality, or something you've always wanted to do.

I love the idea of staying in the US.
I don't know where you are so I don't know your starting point.
What about Sunny San Diego ? There is tons to do and great weather.
Almost anywhere in Florida is nice.Try a nice beach side hotel with all the amenities.
Actually a cruise can be a very budget friendly vacation.Check out various sites . The longer the cruise, the more calm the passengers seem to be.If you factor in that the cost pays for food, lodging and entertainment it can be very cost effective and you'll have a great time.
Look for cruises in Off season times. basically any time school is in session. From Sept- early December and Jan and Feb.Start looking at Royal Caribbean. I am sure you'll like their ships.
Good luck and have fun.

My fiance and i are going to Yosemite in California. Then we are going to Big Sur, San Fransisco and the wine country Why wait until your 10 year anni?????? We will do the big Hawaii and cruise thing next year, or the year after that. 10 years??? Just put aside $50-200 a month in a jar that says "Honey Moon Fund" and you'll get there way sooner than 10 freakin years. you'll have kids by then prolly. That's no honeymoon!!

You could also do the Florida thing, travel cross country and see different states. How about Canada?? Colorado is beautiful, even Mexico could be cool and much cheaper!!!

There are lot's of cheap options, just keep looking and don't give up!!

FH and I are doing the same setup. We just can't take time off in the middle of the school year since I am a teacher and Fall is a big season for him at work too.

We are just going to get a great hotel room for a weekend or so in Dallas. In your case NYC. We can spend the day at the pool, spa, the room, or doing all the tourist traps that we normally miss because its in our own backyard. Like the Grassy Knoll, the aquarium, FT. Worth Zoo, State Fair. (Statue of Liberty, Art Museum, a play, etc.) Places that we might have been as kids but would normally skip. The name of the hotel is a secret so no suprise family visits. We just didn't see the point of buying plane tickets or tanks of gas if it wasn't going to be a real vacation.

Then for our 5th year or so we are going to take a fabulous trip to Germany or something and we have more money ;)

well I don't believe you said WHEN (what time of year) you're being married and what part of the country are you from?
They have beautiful, quaint bed and breakfasts in Natchez, MS.
My husband & I took a "driving honeymoon". No reservations, we just drove to different places. We're from Illinois and originally were going to the Smokie Mountains, but the weather was bad. We drove to Ohio (just overnight), then New York (overnight and the whole next day), then went to Vermont (stayed 2 days there - love that state), then up into Ontario, Canada, west into Canada, dropped back into Michigan and stayed at Frankenmuth, MI (you may look it up on this site. http://www.frankenmuth.org/ Very nice!) then home. We loved it. Very carefree, got to stop and see what we wanted when we wanted. Loved it!!!

I had once heard of a honeymoon as being a road trip, it allows the two of you time to spend one on one, and even though the gas prices are expensive, you might find it may be cheaper to then stop in little quant towns and go to a bed and breakfast!

Have you thought about Lake Tahoe? That'd be really nice?

Montana would also be really lovely!!!

The North East coast, near Canada's east coast would be amazing too! In fact, a trip to Canada's Maritimes would be lovely for you. The people are great over there and the prices are unbelievably good!

If you would like to feel as if you were in the Caribbean somewhere, try some of the beautiful beaches of Florida. Destin, Fl and some of the surrounding areas are extremely beautiful and has lots of good shopping!

also, just about anywhere in Mexico is always a beautiful non-expensive trip to take.
