I completely agree, and I see it happen on here a lot. Not just to Christians though, but to other groups as well.
I have seen my share of people grouping and insulting Atheists etc.
It's wrong no matter who you do it to.

When I make judgements about Christianity, I'm not necessarily attacking the individual. Christianity is a religion. You can object to a religion and disagree with it without making judgements about the Christians themselves. However, oftentimes Christians shoot themselves in the foot by attempting to force their religion and beliefs on people who don't want it or by not standing up to their own extremists publicly and batting them down. It's because of the conversion tactics and extremists that give the whole of Christianity a bad name. So far it's been Christians who have attacked a woman's right to her own body, the public education system, and science. So you wonder why people aren't real friendly toward Christians? People think, "Birds of a feather flock together." That's why you guys get attacked. It's not that people are just being mean spirited. I can't speak for others here, but don't attack unless I've been attacked first.

Yes, there are all types of people in Christianity. Most are good people and mean well. Some are mean spirited and give the rest a bad name. This is how it is with all groups of people, including atheists. By the same token, it's not fair to lump all atheists in one group and stereotype them.

I usually add qualifying words to make it clear that I only mean a certain portion of the population. Such as "Fundies" or "Some Christians." Sometimes I forget, though.
No one is actually stupid enough to believe that stereotypes are really very effective. But hey, don't worry, we all get stereotyped and insulted on here. It's not just for Christians.

Yeah it's a ridiculous fallacy that because Christians believe the same thing, we've somehow been brainwashed. Surely it follows that if something is true, lots of people will individually work out that it's true for themselves? For example, we're all taught that the sky is blue. Does that mean we've all been brainwashed into thinking that way or does it mean that the sky IS actually blue. The whole, 'because lots of people believe it, it must be brainwashing' argument is ridiculous.

yes christians are individuals. stereotyping people is a lazy way of pretending to know them instead of taking the time to actually know them. But most questions here (that are not stereotype-like questions) question beliefs not just of christians but atheists, muslims, everyone. It is questioning the idea not the person and we need that to promote understanding, tolerance and acceptance

no, not just like racism; those people CHOOSE to be in that group & one born into a race has not.
that said, I don't endorse group bashing of any kind, be it against Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Atheism, Buddhism, Paganism in its many varieties, etc etc. Although, some individuals deserve to get a bit "bashed" for some things they say, but it would be better to avoid being overtly insulting.

I treat everyone individually, yet I'm still against Christianity.
How come you grouped me with all the others that are against Christianity?

Of course you are. I believe that you will be hard pressed to find any two people who agree completely about everything. Some people are just hurting, scared, lonely, bored, frustrated, tired and beat up on- it is these emotions inside of us that make us easy prey for the influence of the enemy. The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy. They hurt and the enemy tricks them into attacking us. Put on the whole armor of God with which you will be able to withstand the fiery darts.... I totally agree with you. Just because I don't believe the same way you do or vice versa doesn't mean i'm not a good person nor does it mean i'm not an individual.
