I'd recommend the Pop Party CD. My little girl loves it and we used it for her party. This is the track listing:

1. Baby One More Time - Britney Spears
2. Year 3000 - Busted
3. The Tide Is High - Atomic Kitten
4. Sk8er Boi - Avril Lavigne
5. Spirit In The Sky - Gareth Gates With The Kumars
6. Get The Party Started - Pink
7. Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) - The Cheeky Girls
8. Aserje (Ketchup Song) - Las Ketchup
9. Fast Food Song - Fast Food Rockers
10. Uptown Girl - Westlife
11. Reach - S Club 7
12. Tragedy - Steps
13. Sound Of The Underground - Girls Aloud
14. Round Round - Sugababes
15. Can't Get You Out Of My Head - Kylie Minogue
16. Who Let The Dogs Out - Baha Men
17. Follow Da Leader 2002 - Nigel & Marvin
18. Hey Baby - DJ Otzi
19. Barbie Girl - Aqua
20. We're Going To Ibiza - Vengaboys
21. Mambo No. 5 - Lou Bega
22. Mickey - Lolly
23. Sundown - S Club 8

My daughter loves the Backyardigans. They have a least 2 CDs that I know of and they contain a lot of the songs from the cartoons. They're catchy tunes that are unique and span several genres of music. My Elizabeth drops everything when she hears the theme song and runs to the livingroom just so she can dance to it and she is only 17months old. Their music is loved by all the neighborhood kids that I know of ranging from ages 6months on up.

The VeggieTales is also a good choice has mentioned in an earlier answer. They do have slight religous overtone but they present good morals and values. Besides, their CD "Bob and Larry Sing the 70's" is a definite hit. By the way, if you don't know Bob's the tomato and Larry's the Cucumber. Hope this helps.

For my nephews 5th birthday I made a CD for him and it was all Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand, 'Whats that coming over the hill is it a monster' 'put your hands up for detroit' 'scissor sisters' 'atomic kitten' 'sugar babes'.

His mum listens to the radio in the car and he loved all these songs! At 5 they are a bit past the nursery ryhmes and action songs and are more aware of real music!

Lazy town on CD, we had it for my daughters 2nd birthday. The ages of her friends veried from 2 to 7 and they all loved the up beat atmosphere.

Its a winner, it really is!

Go to Woolworth where they have inexpensive kiddies music CD's. There must be a lot of action songs e.g. the Hokey Pokey.
