For those bible thumpers who think a circle is a sphere, I can recommend a good online geometry class.
The bible also says the earth has four corners and sits on pillars. Get a grip.

When studying the science of the ancient world, one is more apt to be impressed with its ignorance than to admire its accuracy. However, the Bible offers a definite exception to this rule. The scriptures are replete with statements suggesting scientific knowledge which predates the corresponding discoveries of secular science. Given that Bible writers were not scientists, and given that the scientific information at their disposal was generally misleading, the accuracy of the Bible can only be attributed to the inspiration of God. Here are a few of the more striking examples of scientific accuracy in the Bible:
1) The Genesis account of creation asserts that all humans descended from the same parents, Adam and Eve. There is now considerable debate in the scientific community over recent genetic studies which indicate that all men have a common father and all women have a common mother.
2) The fact that the earth is of spherical shape is generally considered to be recent knowledge. However, Isaiah 40:22 spoke of the circle of the earth approximately 750 years before Christ.
Other statements in the Bible also indicate that God revealed this truth long ago. For example, David said that God has removed our transgression from us as far as the east is from the west (Ps 103:12). On a spherical surface, east and west are infinitely separated in the sense that one can travel indefinitely in either direction without ever attaining the other. However, Solomon described the wind as blowing in circuits, first towards the south and then turning toward the north. North and south are not infinitely separated as east and west, because a southward traveler on a spherical surface will be heading north after crossing the south pole.
3) In possibly the oldest book of the Bible, Job asserted that God hung the earth on nothing (Job 26:7). The first scientist having this understanding would appear to be Copernicus around 1500.

A book is not capable of thought.
Why do some very young people who have never written a book think that they are smarter than the last 100 generations and billions of believers?
None of the writers of the new Testament were sheepherders. In fact, the list includes, a doctor, a government official, a philosopher, and an accountant/tax collector, among others. What kind of job do you do?

Actually, Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible under the inspiration of God's Holy Spirit and he didn't herd sheep all his life. He was trained in the Egyptian court from the time he was 12 and left Egypt when he was 40 after killing a slave driver. I believe God chose people to record enough history and prophecy to save us if we believe the messages He gives. King David and His son, King Solomon wrote parts of the Bible. Several of Jesus's disciples (fishermen, tax collector, business men) wrote books of the Bible. They were educated by the Holy Spirit and mentored by Jesus Chirst Himself for 3 1/2 years. God loves us so much that He left and has protected His Word for us to know the truth.

I really don't know but I don't mind what people believe as as they don't keep trying to force others to share their believes and use the Bible as an excuse to persecute and insult LGBT people.
It makes me laugh when we stand up to them they scream persecution. I was even told tolerance of other life styles and beliefs oppresses Christians! They call it repressive tolerance.
Why do they believe in the Bible I suspect it gives them a sense of sertainty and they no longer need to think for themselves.

We don't let it do the thinking for us, we use it as a source of inspiration. A lot of great thinkers throughout history have studied this book. Think: Augustine, Kierkegaard, etc...
Plus they weren't all shepherds. They were politicians, doctors, kings, etc.

Because it transforms your life and gives you eternal life. The part about the sheepherders who thought the earth was flat, I'm not aware of them. Could you give some authentic documentation?

If I just read a book about nutrition and dieting and don't practice eating better, I won't lose weight and get healthy but if i put it into practice I'll see whether it works through personal experience and follow my heart. Thanks for the question

In order to learn something it must start
the hard way, then its written down how
to do something the best way.
The bible is many lifetimes living many situations and written down, so we dont have to re-live and suffer what someone else has already lived and recorded.

The Bible contains the accumulated Knowledge of about 3000 years of intelligent men. Lets just ignore that and make our own decisions based on what cartoons we watched today.
