Please pardon my interest, I'd like to answer from a Buddhist perspective if I may be so permitted. I understand that this question is aimed at the Christians here but thought that it such an interesting question that it should deserve a response. Although a Buddhist and officially an Agnostic I felt prompted to respond.

I thought long about this question and felt that if I had the opportunity to speak directly to the Deity then it would be only polite to respond.

The question, after much thought, prompted me to think about compassion. After all the Compassion obviously shown, it would be polite and logical to show Compassion in return.

My question then would be..."How can I help...?"

Peace from a Buddhist....

I already speak to God directly, and He answers all of my questions.

Are you one of us? Just a slob like one of us? Just a stranger on the bus, trying to make you way home? And what if you are?

(I like Gaz' answer better, though, excellent response...)

I would ask Him as to why He felt compelled to create a universe with all the planets and what not.
