Raise / lower your chair or Elevate or lower your monitor so you are looking straight ahead and not tilting your head up or down to look at it.

Purchase a foam cervical collar, and wear it when you get home from work. It will allow your shoulders and neck muscles to relax, easing the strain. Computer/desk work is by far one of the worse things for your neck and upper body. Shrugging your shoulders often will help loosen the muscles, rolling your shoulders also can be done at the desk and not stop you from your work. Do those stretches closer together, basically try to keep movement going even though you are sitting. After work, heat a rice sock and lay it across your shoulders, use a heating pad the same way.

I've enclosed a link for desk exercises. This will be of help.

I think you should get a regular deep tissue massage. This is really going to improve the stress and strain in your lower neck. One or two massages a week is going to make a tremendous difference in how you feel.

In the meantime place a moist heating pad of or hot towels around your neck and shoulders in the Evenings for twenty minutes at a time.

Massage an analgesic cream into the sore muscles. I find the best cream for pain is “Blue Emu,” You can read more about this cream at http://www.blue-emu.com/

Dehydration can cause severe pain in the muscles. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously.

I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day.
