Well when my oldest was little and people asked her waht she wanted to be she always said the driver of a car(she was 9 months old when I got my license). She's 25 now worked for a few years out of highschool saved her money and she start college this fall and she's going into the same thing as dear old mom legal administrative assistant. My son wanted to be super man and fly to the moon. Now at 23 he works part time in a mall and he's a web designer. My baby girl(14) has always wanted to join the military. I'm not sure if these are typical answers but I like them.

Kids tend to want to emulate their parents when they're young, so will say they want to be whatever their mom or dad is when they grow up. My son has told me since he was a toddler that he's going to be a soldier just like his dad and he's still convinced at almost nine that's what he wants to be. Our middle wants to be a mommy and our youngest wants to be a bird! She's three...funny kid!

Well, my husband has spent my kids' entire lives talking about jobs being taken overseas, and the life people live who choose the wrong career, so my 2 kids want to be something that takes a real education but won't be exported - pharmacist, dentist, etc.

I do a career day at school. When I am preparing who I want to come and speak I go to each classroom and ask the kids what they want to be. The most popular answers are related to pop culture entertainment and sports.

Other careers are doctor, journalist, nurse, lawyer, vet, etc...

The craziest answer was by a 4th grade boy who told me he was going to be on welfare and his grildfriend was going to have babies to get them money.....I know my mouth was open the whole time he was talking.

A typical answer is what the parents are, but kids also might answer something unreasonable or something that is hard to work up to (unrealistic).

My son (7) says he wants to be a call center manager because thats what Daddy does. When he was younger it was whatever his current passion was, firefighter, pirate, police officer.
