I did a strand test with bleach and where my hair is dyed dark, it goes orange! How do i stop this happening? My hair is dark brown naturally and i've been having blond and dark brown foils, I'm a bit stuck for cash, so i really need to be able to colour my hair myself.

I would suggest you get an ash color (ash blonde). I really don't know why it makes a difference, but some dark hair is like that. I believe it has something to do with a persons heritage. I have the same problem.

If you are looking to do this yourself you are going to lose a lot of the differnet color foil-effect.
You need to get something that is "ash" to cut the orange and a stronger developer (40). If you are going for an all over brown/light brown with a few almost blonde highlights you need to stay away from anything that is a "warm color" (warm colors are red-based).
If your hair is very dark and you are trying to go "almost blonde" try getting a dark ash blonde. The ash will help with the orange and with dark hair it will not go all the way to blonde -- a sandy brown with highlights where the blonde already is.
Be careful though if you have really blonde/almost white highlights because the ash may turn that to a green color.

Try Using A BLUE POWDER Bleach And 30 Or 40 Volume Developer. If Your Hair Is Still Going Orange, I Think You Should Forget About It Until You Can Get Professional Help.

DON'T.
If you did a strand test and you turned orange, then the color won't completely come out of your hair and YOU WILL HAVE ORANGE HAIR. It just won't lift any further. Get a color corrector (Salon Care ColorCorrector at Sally's for 12.99), apply that and wash it out, then do another strand test with bleach.
