It's suppose to be the story of the Americas and what was going on over here at the time all those things in the bible were happening in Eurasia and Africa. It also talks about Jesus coming to America. Obviously it's a big book, so I can't go into everything...

How many different Christian churches are there? They all use the same book, shouldn't they all have the same doctrine???
The fact is that the Bible isn't the clearest book on the planet. Everyone claims that it is and that their interpretation of it is right....but they all disagree. The Book of Mormon clarifies many of these disputes and misunderstandings. Others are later clarified through prophets, chosen by God, as they made inquiries to him trying to understand certain doctrines.
There are many, but a few controversial ones that come to mind immediately are infant baptism, works vs grace, and modern revelation through prophets.

Revelation 22 talks only about the The Book of Revelations it wasn't even part of the Bible until the 3rd century.
I believe the Book of Mormon is the Word of God, I have a testimony of its truthfulness by the test of Moroni 10.
The Holy Spirit filled me with light and understanding and the love of God of its truthfulness.
God lives and not a product of sectarianism theology.
He can do what he wants to do and not what anti mormons want him to say or do.

The Book of Mormon is not an addition to the Bible.
It says, itself, that it is another testament of Jesus Christ.
This would mean that the Book of Mormon is similiar to the Book of Maccabees - an Old Testament book in the Catholic Bible. It is considered another source, but not part of the King James Bible - source of Protestant churches

So far, your respondents don't know what they are talking about. The Book of Mormon is a companion volume of scripture to the Bible. It is a second testimony or witness of Jesus Christ. Inasmuch as the Bible is a record of God's dealings with the tribe of Israel in Palestine, The Book of Mormon is a record of God's dealings with a branch of the tribe of Joseph here in North America. It also contains a short record of another people that came to this continent from the Tower of Babel. Some of the scriptures in the Book of Mormon are recitations from the Old Testament because the people brought their Old Testament records with them when they came over here, thus some of those teachings were included, notably many chapters from Isaiah. When Christ arrived in America after His resurrection from Jerusalem, he gave the people over here some of the verses from Malachi that had not been received by this people because Malachi lived after this people left Jerusalem.
Many of the teachings in the Book of Mormon contain additional details of Bible teachings, thus clarifying verses that were not clear in their King James rendition that we live by. The Book of Mormon does not add to nor detract from the Bible but rather compiments it and clarifies many of its teachings.
It is a true volume of scripture and testifies of the Bible just as the Bible testifies of The Book of Mormon. Check out Isaiah, Ezekiel and John.

It isn't an addition to the Bible. If you add to or take away from the Bible you are in danger of condemnation and Hell.
"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." Revelation 22:18-19

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ.
I was reading the answers and noticed a couple of themes I'd like to address.
Two people said something about not adding any "new revelations from God". Now, this begs the question; Why would God NOT want us to write down any revelations from He HIMSELF? Read Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Several mentioned Revelation 22:18 (chapter 22, not 21, as someone said), but what about Deuteronomy 4:2 (Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.) , or Proverbs 30:6? Yes, the next verse after the one I just posted in teh last paragraph? (Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.)
In this light, the entire New Testament is added scripture, and unBiblical.
Not to mention that, when John wrote his revelation, there were two things that were NOT running thru his mind: "This will be a part of the Holy Bible in a few hundred years", and "This will be the LAST book in the Holy Bible a few hundred years from now". Therefore, Revelation 22:18 is talking about the book of Revelation, not the Bible.
And those who said not to add what GOD reveals? Why not?
As to Mark 13:23, Jesus no doubt did tell His disciples all things, but NOT all those things were included in the Bible.
John 20:30 ¶ And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
The Book of Mormon does not claim to be the missing parts of the Bible. It claims to be a testament of Jesus Christ.
As to Joseph Smith writing it trying to get rich, then why did he stick it out for so many years, NOT getting rich, but getting nothing but grief, pain, even going to jail when he knew he would be killed, instead of trying to save himself? Personally, I think that, if I were Joseph Smith, and I was only in it for the money, I would have definately given it up after the night I was tarred and feathered, while my baby son lay dying. That would have done it for me. The next morning, he spoke to a large group of people, including the ones who had caused him such terrible horrible pain and grieving the night before, and instead of lambasting them for their dirty deeds, or telling them, hey, it's all al lie, so, I'm outa here, he PREACHED THEM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST, and FORGIVENESS.
It amazes me how people love to show off their ignorance as they do.

...Greetings. God closed the book on His revelation after the book of Revelation. We read in Revelation 21 the following:
...18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book;
...19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.
**
...And in Galations 1 we read this:
6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel;
7 which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.
8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!
9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!
...The LDS gospel features a Jesus who is less than God (ask your elders if you doubt this); don't answer me back and say He is the Son of God only; John 5:18, Isaiah 9:6, and Hebrews 1:8 testify that He is God, along with many other passages.
...I'll stake my life on the gospel of salvation (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), the only Gospel which saves, on the Lord Jesus Christ, and the true Gospel which is circumscribed by the Bible alone and its entirety.

Well, I'd say that the size of the addition is so big that it has composed an entire second book!
It's definitely (and obviously) an add-on.
Whether or not the info in the book of Mormon is true or not is a different question altogether.
But for now, we'll just say it's an add-on.
