Just wondering

I as a Jew never promised but when Jesus showed me he still loved me I let him into my heart to be my best friend and savior=and have never been sorry about it!

you will never be let down by Jesus= I prayed-Jesus, I am sorry I have let you down-even with one lie, come into my heart and help me do better, be my friend, amen.
in amazing grace that saved me Revelation 3 (verses 19&20) He loves each of us & knocks on our heart door to come in and forgive sin when we repent-even of one lie, and Jesus says then I will begin a fellowship with you as my friend, when you ask me in. praying for you, David

I agree with your previous answerer. When I read one of your other questions it had me in tears because it was so sincere.

As for God answering prayers, here's my story:

My father-in-law once had a massive heart attack. The muscles of your heart can't recover, so usually only scar tissue is formed. He was in intensive care on life-supporting machines, and doctors said that IF he survived, he wouldn't be able to lift his hand to comb his own hair.

We were prepared for the worst. We stopped praying for recovery and only asked that God's will be done.

God's will was a surprise: My father-in-law's heart rate which was terribly fast and unstable started stabilizing. I remember sitting with him and noticing it, also the doctor's amazed face when he came in to check the monitors. After a while his condition improved enough to take him off the machines. Finally his recovery was so miraculous (to use the words of the team of doctors, some of them who weren't believers at the stage), that he could take up a fitness program for heart patients.

God does answer prayers, even if sometimes the answer is no. I once prayed for my brother's recovery, but he died. That didn't turn me into an atheist. Whether we believe or not, we all know that life is only temporary. God is good, and he knows best.

Sorry, I wasn't really answering your question, but after reading all your other answers I couldn't help but reacting!

In order to pray the sinner's prayer you must believe you are a sinner. If you believe what you do is for God then you are more prone to continue doing what you are doing in the face of opposition. It is possible to be horribly wrong and believe you are right. The bible states, "There is a way that seems right to man, whose pathway ends in death." Prov. 16:25 - "THERE IS A WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT TO A MAN, BUT ITS END IS THE WAY OF DEATH."

This is one of the most familiar passages, often quoted from the book of Proverbs. I'm pretty sure that most of you have heard this passage before ... But, HOW OFTEN DO WE TAKE THE TIME TO STUDY IT ... HAVE WE EVER JUST SAT DOWN WITH THIS PASSAGE ... TO STUDY WHAT IT MEANS,
AND THINK OF ALL THE IMPLICATIONS INVOLVED ?? "THERE IS A WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT TO A MAN, BUT ITS END IS THE WAY OF DEATH."
Things are usually not as they seem on the surface. We know this but ignore this fact constantly. We must learn to look at life like a child- when a child sees something, he or she realizes that the function of the thing may be beyond what can be readily seen so they ask lots of questions and listen to the answers. They are interactive with the answers- learning, judging and growing with the answer. Many adults have learned how to assume... and then begin assuming too much. Be very careful when you believe you have found the right way. The bible makes it very easy for those who believe. Not everyone has faith or belief in the same measure- and some CHOOSE not to believe. IF we were only more child-like...

Not exactly. The closest I've come is when I was first becoming atheist. I was fighting it tooth and nail, and spent a LOT of time praying for "God" to help me overcome the doubts I had in my mind. I begged Him to do anything to help me, to just show me some sort of real sign that He existed. I asked Him to help someone else that I knew was in trouble, (not someone that was a friend or family member, just someone that I knew about and felt for.) Nothing happened to help that person, I never received anything resembling a sign that there was a God, and I went on to ACCEPT that I just didn't believe in the existence of a deity. Now I honestly can't understand how or why I ever believed there was one to begin with.

I don't think of Jesus or God as magic lanterns that grant wishes. I believe because I want to and choose to, not because I really know. Who does? I'm hoping that's what they mean by faith. I do feel it has a positive effect on me.
So many blame God for the bad stuff. Maybe we're responsible for our own trouble or, at least, how we deal with it.

No, I don't think I've told Jesus that if he helped me I would believe in Him. I've told Him that if he healed me I would be a life-long dedicated servant to Him. I said I would share my testimony and try to lead people to Him. I asked this over 10 years ago. I'm still waiting for a response. I don't know if He'll ever answer me. I really don't think about it anymore. I haven't been healed of my illness, either. I'm still on medication for my illness. I'm okay, though.

Yes, i did. Then my best friend died the next day, my dog was run over the day after that, and the next day my cousin was hit and killed by a drunk driver, the 4th day i broke my wrists by falling from a chair, the 5th day my great grandmother died of heart failure, the 6th day my sister had a miscarriage, and the 7th day was just a normal day... i figured god / jeasuss did his best to prove his existance, i think he just proved hes an ***. that wasn't much help to me so i didn't belive. and never will.

G-d knows your heart, my brother in Messiah.... He loves you so much.. you know, your post/question made me cry it was so beautiful. And yes... Jesus shows me He loves me, by helping me too. I noticed some people said they asked Him to help and He didn't do anything. Could it be because they did not come to Him in faith, but in a "show me" or I will not believe attitude? If someone comes to Him with a heart of repentance and love for G-d, Yeshua will always come and help... and you can SEE it then, in "real" and tangable ways!

Lol, why would I make a promise like that? That's like you making a promise to Muhammad that if he does something for you, you'll believe in him. I take it you were serious in asking your question, so I'll say that I find it quite silly.

Besides, I believe in Jesus, I just choose to worship God instead.

Hey heres a history lesson you can't learn in school:

The Bible, especially the New Testament, is a fabrication of the Roman Emperors to pacify a rebellious Judea, who subsequently edited the Old Testament ex post facto to prophesize about the Roman invented Jesus myth.

So get your head out of you a** and smell what you are shoveling.

when i sit on a swing at the park, i don't say "hey jesus, if you give me a push i'll worship you and accept you"... naw, i think i'm better off by asking someone who is actually there to give me a push in the right way.
because i know i'll get a push, for nothing.
and i'm not going to wait on jesus to give me a push when he clearly he's not going to be there.
