What would surreal art be like without the influence of Freud?

If Freud had never existed, or at least never came up with any theories relevant to surreal art, how would surreal art have changed?

Not much different. The artists never bothered much with the meaning...so Freud made them more famous in a way but I doubt any influence in how it (would) look(s).
