A large Yankee candle for sure. They make the best bridal shower gifts.

I have seen it done lots of ways - I just got married, so I'll tell you what people did for us. For my bridal shower, I got lots of girly stuff and some stuff from our registry. For the wedding, some people just considered the gift they gave us for the shower a present for both the shower and the wedding. Some people gave us an additional present off the registry, like household items or gift cards (which we loved!! they are the best present besides cash!). If it were me giving someone a gift, I would give the bride something kind of girly for her shower...after all it's a BRIDAL shower. The nightgown then would be great. Then I would give them the gift card for the wedding. That seemed to be the most common thing we got, but you could do it either way and any gift you give would be appreciated. I hope that made sense. Let me know if you have any questions.

Check out her wedding registries and buy a gift off of it. If she registered she probably has gifts of all prices. It is better to buy a 40-50 dollar gift on there and wrap it up (bed, bath, and beyond wraps gifts for free). Or get multiple low prices items like kitchen utensils (plastic serving spoons, spatulas, etc) plus a bake ware set (like a 20 dollar bakeware set of metal pans for brownies, etc).

Cute kitchen gadgets from IKEA are like $1 each, yet everyone loves them.
Gift cards or money are not appropriate to give at a shower. You need to give them something that is an actual gift. However, it can be small, inexpensive, and even handmade.

Do a gag gift. I gave my friend a gift basket because we were short on cash too. I went and got a bucket and filled it with cleaning supplies (windex, sponges, pledge, cookbook, etc.). I added some tissue paper so it looked cute and a bow. She laughed when she opened it and didnt think anything about "what a cheap piece of crap".
Another friend we got her a stock pot and put a card on it that said "congragulations, now you have a pot to piss in" since her hubby and she were still in apartment with little furniture. She wasn't sensitve about her financial situation and always cooked alot of gumbos, blackeyed peas, soups so it worked perfectly.

Imagingo- It's a bingo game where you submit your photos and they create a custom bingo game for you. It should be a great gift. Include photos of the people from each side of the family. It's pretty inexpensive.

One of my friends gave me a laundry basket full of necessary household stuff - paper towels, toothpaste, cleaning supplies, kitchen sponges, toilet paper, windex, dish towels, etc.
You can pick up all of those things at the dollar store and spend less than $20 on the gift, but let me just say... when we moved into our new house, the laundry basket of cleaning supplies, toilet paper, etc became the MOST useful gift we got.

What my mom and I always do, is get a medium sized colander, then fill it with spaghetti stuff, noodles, sauce, the spoon that is used to scoop the noddles out of the bowl and then wrap everything up in a dish towel, its cute and it is cheap. Just write on the card this can be your first meal together!! :)
