It has been about two weeks since I had the cortisone shot. I now have a sharp pain (burning) in the knee just below where the shot was injected in my knee. I wear a knee brace to alleviate the pain while walking. Is there anything I can do for the pain besides go back to the doctor?

(Geez..some people will give you some very bad advice...go see a chiropractor? for a knee problem?....geez...) oh well..
One thing I am almost an expert on is knees...my left knee has now had FIVE surgeries...4 scopes, 1 lateral release, a Unispacer implant (last year) which failed miserably, and now a partial knee replacement (this past March)....having been through all of those PLUS more cortisone shots that you can count...I would say you should go back to your Dr...although you may be having an allergic reaction (although after 2 weeks, I highly doubt it), you may have inadvertently injured your knee further while the cortisone shot was taking affect...in other words, the numbing of the lidocaine that is also part of a cortisone shot may have kept you from feeling that you were doing something to hurt it...and therefore you have made the problem you already had, worse.
GO SEE your Dr!!!!! Take it from me...after 15 years of struggling with knee pain (mostly due to severe OA) have it taken care of NOW...before you get to the point I did...where only replacement was going to give me relief..
Good Luck.....

I would better suggest your regular doctor that gave you the original shot, he has your records, and knows what the shot was for.
This is sometimes the trouble most people have, they bounce around to doctors or different types of doctors and, never get the right opinion, they will sometimes have several opinions and, have drugs for them all. Doesn't make sense, does it?

The doctor gave you a cortisone shot and it must have done some good. The original reason is probably back, either arthritis or Rheumatism. See your original doctor for either another shot or a follow up probably with X-Rays then treatment. The Ice packs is a good idea, I use them for arthritis.

What was the diagnosis? Is there any swelling? How did you injure the knee and how long ago? If the injury is recent then the best thing is Ice (Your best friend). You need to reduce swelling to reduce the pain. Once you got rid of the inflammation then you'll feel a lot better. If you seek help from your local Chiropractor he can better assess your knee to determine the cause of pain. Good Luck.
