L-glutamine, an amino acid, has been said to stop cravings, specifically sugar and alcohol.
DON'T take the mean answers personally...remind yourself that they are mean people who answer most questions in a mean way. Stay off your scale, and judge your weight loss by how loose your clothes are. If you are like me, your weight will fluctuate from day to day, and what you see on the scale will frustrate, and hinder your process, instead of helping you.
Find an exercise you enjoy. You won't stick to something you hate! Exercise is the clincher!! You will not keep weight off by diet alone...you need to add exercise to your plan.
I cut out soda, second portions, and tried to walk three times a day. I lost 65 pounds. I have been heavy my whole life, and I found that the diets did not work for me, I needed to change my approach and change it for life, not just for the duration of a diet. If you make life changes, the weight comes off slower, but is MUCH more likely to stay off permanently. Good luck!!

There are ways to do it, and you'll hear about a lot of famous people doing these too. Suck on ice whenever you get cravings, it adds water to the system and makes your mind think you are eating. Celery is just as good. You burn more calories than you take in. Try chewing sugar free gum. It's like with a smoking addiction, because thats what over eating is, An addiction, you chew gum rather than fulfilling your addiction. Or even better, my favorite, if you're home on a friday night and want to binge on popcorn, chocolate, ice cream the good stuff you know? SLEEP! thats right if you're sleeping you're not eating and your body benifits from it.

cravings of sugar and junk foods will take 3 days to get rid of - just dont give in.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

when i am hungry for yank or in general i just start eating something healthy like carrots or pepper... eat while you cut it... eat as much as you need to ... you will get bored after a while and stop.
also you can snack healthy cereal... i make a little bag and just keep snacking... your body and mind get stimulated...
make sure you eat small snacks in form not portion... because as longer you take to eat it,the better it is....
i am not over weight but i wanted to lose some weight... that's what helped me///
i eat lots of cheese.... healthy one.... drink soy milk (a big bottle as breakfast... ) all those things help a lot....
the pounds won't go over night but you will look in shape healthy within 6 months...
also its easy to keep up with it because your body gets used to
one more thing..... NO EATING AFTER 6pm and if you are hungry... drink water, milk or eat salad or snack veggies (NO FRUIT)

Good luck

Drink plenty of water. Try to keep yourself from getting bored. Brush your teeth immediately after every meal so you won't be tempted to snack again for a while. Chew some sugar-free gum to keep yourself from eating sweets that happen to be lying around at work, school, parties, etc.

The best way is to eat foods high in fiber like whole wheat bread, oatmeal, and nuts (almonds, cashews, not peanuts). These foods keep your blood sugar stable and take longer to digest thus making you feel full longer. Foods such as candies, soft drinks and other sugary foods raise your blood sugar too fast and subsequently drop it just as fast which is what causes the cravings.

I had the same problem but when you are really determined to lose the weight then it will be easier to stick to it. Keep healthy foods in the house like yogurt, sugar free jello, and carrot sticks to snack on when you feel hungry.
