Just a thumbnail, I thought I had deleted it, but I'm not so hot on computers! He didn't really look, but I'm so dissappointed, do you think it matters, and is it bad luck?

Thanks for all the great advice and reassurance, I cried my eyes out when he told me, but I guess it's not that bad!

Luck Shmuck. Dont worry about bad luck.

And as far as him seeing a thumbnail of the dress, I think you should be fine. If it was just a tumbnail, and he didnt really look, I doubt he'll have any clue what it look like. He probably saw what color it was, unless it was anything other than white thats no big deal. You probably werent all made up in the picture either (assuming it was just a picture of you trying it on at the bridal store). When you're all done up and he sees you on your wedding day you'll take his breath away and he wont even remember that tiny picture.

So dont sweat it, you have more important things to worry about. :)

No it's not bad luck. Get off that silly kick.

What this superstition came from was when marriages were arranged - often when the bride and groom were mere children. This was more like merging companies than merging lives. Now then, as today, not every bride was a beauty - but the 2 families needed to be merged anyway. SO, In order to keep the groom from backing out if he saw that he would be married to - a not so pretty woman - he was not to see her until he had declared before God and families (and lawyers) that he would take this woman to be his lawfully wedded wife...

Then and only then would he be permitted to see his new bride...

Again this was when marriages were brokered like business deals. But the old custom of not seeing the bride in her wedding gown until the ceremony still lives on.

Trust me. It's rubbish. Pure rubbish.

The tradition of "bad luck" stems from the fact that during the age of arranged marriages, it was considered bad luck for the groom to see his bride, because heaven forbid she was ...uhhh... less than appealing, he'd bail and she'd be left at the alter (so it was REALLY bad luck for the bride). Harsh, but its the truth.

There is NO such thing as this. Its a silly superstition; in fact most bridal parties have their photos done prior to the ceremony, so what happens then??

I don't think it's going to make ANY difference whatsoever. I think that the day you walk down the aisle is going to be burned into his memory forever, and that little thumbnail would never do justice to a bride in all her glory.

Put it from your mind. You've got bigger things to worry about.

Best wishes.

Its ok to be dissapointed but don't worry that it's bad luck. He didn't really look right?

If you think he might of then a really simple solution is to plant a few more pics of you in dresses from the store on the computer. He will think that it was just one you tried on and not know which one you picked. I did the same thing for my fiancee....made sure to include some really ugly ones too. Lol I can tell when he's peeking because he looks like he wants to say "thats not it is it? please no" but can't because he'll give himself away.

I don't think it really matters. It's just an old wives' tale. Success in marriage doesn't depend on whether the groom sees the bride in her wedding gown before the wedding, but on more serious issues like communication and trust.

That said, I am getting married in September and my fiancee has not seen my dress. I don't want him to see the dress because I want him to see me in it the first time when I'm walking down the aisle at the wedding.

Good luck in your marriage!

The good news is marriage has nothing to do with luck. So I don't see how him seeing a tiny picture of you in your dress is going to ruin anything. It's totally different then when he sees you walking down the aisle toward him, even then I doubt he will be thinking to much of your gown, more of the fact that he is about to become the luckiest man in the world. Don't worry about it hun, congrats and I am sure you will look beautiful!

I take it you mean wedding dress and of course its not bad luck, it was a photo. What could he possibly have taken in from a thumbnail, this is a man we're talking about (sorry guys)!

Oh honey don't worry about it. The bad luck thing does not exist. my fiance is dying to see what dress i'm gonna wear because he can't wait for the wedding, one of my friend her husband help her picked out her wedding dress and they are married 7 years now with 2 children and very happy, he said she looked so beautiful on the wedding day he didnt even remember helping her pick the dress. so don't worry. yourprobably is just being a man and didn''t even notice the picture .just concentrate on being beautifull on your big day. congrats.

Oh honey, I wouldn't worry about that at all! I think the superstition is in person anyway! :) Besides, it was a little picture and it's not going to even compare to what you are going to look like coming down that aisle!!

Shake that off! No bad luck there!

Congratulations!! :)
