You have sin because Adam and Eve ate the fruit - God had no choice. You go to hell because you choose to - God had no choice.

Can't God change the rules? Why doesn't he?

km: Yes, but why is it written in stone that you have sin because Adam and Eve ate the fruit? Who thought up that rule?

God gave women their monthly flow because of that fruit ordeal. A punishment that has been paid for by billions of women for "thousands" of years.

Probably because Exodus 20:5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me

The reason is along those lines.

Side note: the above poster speaks of genetic imperfections... The genetic imperfections are the result of God's ingenious plan to begin the human race by inbreeding!

free will?

so in the history of humanity, aside from Jesus himself, every person, despite their immense love for God just 'chose' to sin in the same way that one 'chooses' to speed on the highway or 'chooses' to try drugs? Innate urges and emotions have nothing to do with any of our choices? Not ever having sex or masterbating if you're not married or not lying when your woman asks you if this dress makes her look fat is really that simple?

Perhaps there is an issue that the bar was set way too high, and if that is the case, why would God set us up to fail? (If God was all-knowing, then didn't he see it coming that Adam and Eve would eat the fruit? Why set them up to fail by putting it there in the first place? That's like having a child and putting a pool in the backyard with no fence, denying the child swimming lessons, and thinking that you are protecting the child by simpling telling him to stay away from the pool. How loving is that?

I have digressed.

You pose a very good question: God can create the world in 7 days, create truly fascinating human beings, rain fire and brimstone, but can't figure out how to change the rules so that we are not these constant loser failures who are constantly begging for forgiveness for simply being alive.

God doesn't want to change the rules because he is not interested in your happiness. If you can't figure out how to be happy on his very strict terms, then it's straight to Hell for you. He just wants strict obedience - or else. You are nothing more than a disposable pawn in his huge game to stroke his ego.

I have asked this question a lot and usually get different variations involving the "mysteries of God's purpose' and other assorted bs. i have never understood why a barbaric ritual like crucification was required to pay some mysterious debt . As if God couldn't just wave the this "debt" since there theoretically should be no higher authority. does God owe his bookie? i know i am presenting more questions than answers, but this is all leading to my answer:

I call b__lsh_t! Not saying God does or does not exist, but I refuse to believe that a superior being does not have choices. Hell, he could forgive Satan and make nice if he wanted to. This everything is predetermined stuff makes God out to be petty and stubborn...like...MAN. If God exists, he/she/it has to be amused that people attribute such human factors.

God is God. He makes the rules. Obey or be punished. We have free will.

"Choose this day who you will serve" It is our choice and our choice only.

As far as God changing the rules, why don't you sit down and talk with him. Maybe He can reveal something very important to you. If you choose Him, you won't have anything to worry about.

God wants people to choose Him. He didn't make us puppets on a string. What is the use in us having to honor or love Him? He wants us to WANT to honor and love him. He doesn't want to see anyone perish by rejecting Him.

Because, if he existed, he would not be loving. After all, Isaiah 45:9 says, 'I make peace and create evil. I, the Lord, do all these things.'
'He' just tries to put the blame on Adam or Eve...later, Satan and finally the choice is broadened to 'free will'. I always wondered why a 'loving creator' created hell. Why not just wipe out our existence if our 'free will' led us to non-belief?

Imperfection is genetic, and since Adam and Eve are the progenitors of our race, we inherited it from them. As far as hell goes, fiery hell is not a Biblical teaching. I can elaborate if you'd like. (Just e-mail me)

Every quality God has - he defines. He doesn't have love (like we might) but He IS love. He is just. He is holiness. etc.

So, his holiness cannot be compromised.

He did create the way of salvation for us through Christ. He did solve the problem. We are lawbreakers and Christ provides a pardon for us.
