Some of the traits are loud and inappropriate non-stop speech, stealing, literally running from one dangerous activity to another, getting into fights, complete self absorption. I am thinking this is something that is a spiritual problem with adults that is passed down and manifested physically in our children. What do you think?

My son was ADHD and I do know what I am talking about with rounds and rounds of counseling and meds and trust me it is NOT a lack of parenting. Please do not lecture me about it as my son has now went to college and has a VERY good job, a nice house, a brand new Mustang, and an adorable girlfiend. He is the nicest sweetest man and it is because I went to the mat for the kid and did not settle for less than peace for him and for myself.

I know what it is but, I am basically asking why it was allowed?

ADHD is genetic. Genetics are passed down to your children. It is no different than diabetes, thyroid problems, alcoholism etc. I have ADHD (inattentive type) and do not have those behaviors you mentioned. Those behaviors are usually manifested in little boys when they are first diagnosed who are grade school/middle school age with the hyperactive ADHD. Once they get a little older they learn to manage it better (like my son). Most ADHD adults do not display those characteristics. They learn to live in society with the rest and if they choose jobs that can evolve around their special personalities and incredible talents then they can be very successful and it no longer is considered a problem. My son is 22 and in his 4th year of college and is going into advertising or broadcasting. I see no sin in that - but I do understand what you were trying to ask.

Midge, I believe that with physical ailments there is a need to pray for protection from the enemy. After all, he's going to hit on the weakest point of a person's emotional and spiritual makeup. While it is true that not every illness is demonic, I think it's intelligent to consider spiritual implications as well. Man is body, soul, and spirit. Therefore to treat a person's illness, all three should be addressed. A doctor treats the physical, a psychiatrist treats the mind, and the clergy treat matters of the spirit. I think that we as Christians must seek God's discening wisdom in these matters. I am sure you have already. As for it being passed down, that refers to generational issues, something I have not seen applied to ADHD. Nonetheless, I think it may be an area where the enemy attacks

I think ADHD is real. But I also think far too many kids are being diagnosed as ADHD when really, they're just brats who weren't taught how to act properly. I know of a kid who truly has ADHD and was properly diagnosed after a lot of tests, and I know of far more who are labeled that because their parents didn't do their job right. They didn't do a lot of tests; they just give the kid meds, they'll be okay....sure, sure.

Midge, I didn't mean you personally. I know there are some kids who really do have it. But there are a lot of parents who don't go through the hoops and just demand drugs after a visit to the doc or two. And the sad thing is, the docs are doing it.

I think it is exactly the same as the spiritual manifestations that adults have.

That is to say that they are all physical conditions due to chemical and electrical imbalances in the brain. These can be due to physiological problems, or self induced.

Plain bad behavior used to be misdiagnosed as ADD ADHD. But that is just a learnt behavior. With better testing for ADD/ADHD this is less common now.

Several eminent doctors now believe that ADHD is nothing more than bad behaviour resulting from adults being unable to discipline their unruly brats.

Whether it's bad discipline or a chemical imbalance, the one thing it's not is some sort of spiritual mumbo jumbo. Here in western society we passed through the phase of believing in evil spirits and possession at about the same time that we stopped burning witches. The same goes for "spiritual problems" and other similar BS.

I know some children with it and the teachers say they are unbearable without their meds.

They disrupt the class. They cannot stop talking and are excited easily.

Once excited they cannot mellow out and escalate to a frenzy which ends in everyone screaming and fighting.

And once you mention it...IT 'IS' ALL ABOUT THEM !

They are callous to anyone else's problems and only see what they want.

They never want to take the meds.

I personally believe their parents made them this way....they would shut them off in their rooms all day...except for meals and baths there was no interaction.

the hallway to their room had a gate and they could watch their parents in the great room but were not allowed in most of the time.

ADHD is often ascribed to spiritual advancement, but being a spiritual person myself I see it rather as a form of brain damage resultant from the polution of our food, water and air.

Insecticides are neurotoxins which commonly kill pets and produce braindamage in humans, yet we feed our children fruit. In the Netherlands a proposal to ban insecticides which produce health hazards to humans was blocked by our parliament. The epidemic of ADHD and other mental diseases such as autism is directly linked to the amount of chemicals in the environment hence only occurs in the "developed" nations. So the poor underdeveloped countries are "spared" our spiritual revolution.

The truth shall set you free. But you may not like it!

I think that is ridiculous. ADHD is brought upon by a number of different things. Pesticides in our foods for starters. Bad diets for another. Anxieties that kids have today that were not pressured on them before. And poor upbringing.
Not to mention all the medications that are overprescribed....
ADHD is something we all brought upon ourselves.

edit: and it is way over diagnosed. Sometimes we just have hyper active kids that need stimulation other than computers, video games or tv. Like one on one time with parents.

Honestly, I think that's a horrible thing for you to say. Children that have ADHD go through quite a bit. They struggle to succeed in traditional classrooms, and often have trouble fitting in with other children.

This isn't some pass the sin down game. Would you say the same about children that have Down syndrome?

PFFFTTT! NO!!!

It is a behavioral disorder that punk *** parents aren't willing to control traditionally and would prefer doping children. There has always been ADD/ADHD but it was never classified and the prescription was an *** whooping.

While it may have a chemical cause in countless studies nearly 99% of the children were "cured" without drugs!
