Well.. the Bible has been edited by human hands so much that who is to say Hell really is a lake of fire and brimstone? Some people feel that an eternity without God is Hell enough.

I think a worse punishment would be to have to spend eternity with the bible thumpers. I'd be happier in hell, where the party's at, if there was a hell!

I find it ironic that rapists, murderers, and even GW Bush can be saved, but simple disbelief is punishable by an eternity in a lake of burning sulfur. That's one sick perverted religion the early followers of Christ managed to cook up. No thanks, I'd rather think for myself and lead a moral life.

I think the fire and brimstone stuff is crap. If I was God, I'd say "Okay, you don't believe in me? That's up to you. You guys hang out over there and iof you feel like chatting with me, come on over otherwise I'll leave you alone. Have fun. And be excellent to each other."

Hell is not eternal damnation, hell is purgatory(or paradise, or sheol) the lake of fire is eternal damnation, and yes I do think it is appropriate punishment for those who reject God, why would you want to go somewhere, you really dont want to be(heaven). But only you can lead yourself there, God sends no one there. And God is our only judge, and only He knows what exactly is in the heart and soul of each one of us.

As we are creations of God, we are bound to him. We have the reponsibility of acknowledging him and worshipping him because that is proper for a healthy relationship between God and man.
But its like with any other relationship youll have while on this earth. If you forsake and disown them, they are going to forsake and disown you. Hell is simply the inevitable place of destruction for those who forsake God by virtue of their own hearts and what they thought was important in life.

Because of what it means....
When I heard it defined as "eternal seperation from God" by C.S. Lewis it began to make a lot more sense. I see it less as punishment and more of consequence of choice.

God DOESN'T put you in hell! Jesus doesn't let you into heaven because you don't have a relationship with him. So all that's left outside of heaven is hell, that Satan drags you into.

It isn't punishment. It is simply God honoring our free choices. If we choose to live with Him for eternity, He honors that choice. If we choose to reject Him and live apart from Him for eternity, He honors that choice. How loving would it be to force someone who has chosen to reject Him, to live in His intimate presence for eternity anyway??
