3 questions below -
-Rant? It is true, plenty of folks here do rant. So what if an atheist said this or that? Relax, take a deep breath and answer as if your mom was standing next to you.
-Call people names? I exchanged e-mail notes with a fella yesterday, who was very upset with our Christian God. Plenty of folks read his angry questions, and responded in varying degrees of simpathy to outright disdain. I can say if I had been through what I found out he has, I'd be an angry man too. How about some examples of unconditional love from you fellow believers out there? Do you think because someone shakes their fist at God, God hates them? I don't. God loves them. We need to show it too.
-Report atheists for valid questions? What gives? Let people speak their mind? If you're insulted, go to another question.
We are suppose to be the light of the world, not the police force. Speak the good word.
God bless.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback.
Some really good comments, and the reminder of who Jesus hung out with is a good one Suzanne. And Dusty Scribe, you are so right - without Christ Jesus, I would be hopelessly lost!

Amen. As for why.............................
Either because they do not know Christ. (But it is common to fail:)
Romans 7
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
and remember this one?
James 3:
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. 7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. 11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? 12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. 13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 17
or perhaps they aren't converted........................................
they are just religious people/.................................................
The only people Jesus called names were the religious bigots of the day. Think about it.

Agree :) Peace talks are best.....name calling, never.....however, depending on the person, if you start seeing the same person saying/asking the same thing, it sometimes is best to be blunt and not sugar coat any more...(given with respect and not ill will)
You know, though, it seems that many believe that a "Christian" has never had bad happen to them......you can take 2 people from the same family that had gone through the same type of treatment, and one will hate God and the other will turn to God.
One person refused to give in and let hate rule their life while the other embraced the hate, and made IT their "god" without even knowing it.
Just a thought to pass on......
God be with you :)

All too often we forget that we were once just like them. And except for God's saving grace, we'd be lost and without hope.
We tend to expect unbelievers to act like believers. This can't be the case, since they don't have the Spirit within them. Sometimes, I wonder if those who are Christian, really are. The vitriol I've seen from some make me wonder.
Granted, there are unbelievers here who live to provoke Christians. We can choose to ignore them (or with the new feature, block them). It is better to engage them, and do so as Peter said, "...with gentleness and respect." (I Peter 3:15)

Amen, brother! We all need to remember that Jesus was rightfully described as a friend to sinners, even though He never indulged in their sin. How can we reflect Jesus' light if we refuse to shine the truth into someone's heart because they're "not good enough"? And how can we be the salt of the earth if we refuse to season a stew that's imperfectly made?
Makes no sense to me.

Yes I'm with you on that too.
Let us be slow to anger and not get in a tizzy.
We are all here to speak our peace.
Live and let live, and remember you can
only control your own actions, not the actions
of others. You are accountable for your own
not for theirs so if someone speaks harshly
against you, stay silent, take a moment and
keep going in patience and virtue.

And so would I, Puss, so would I. My mother used to say empty barrels make the most noise. I think folk with inward uncertainties are prone to brandish their life-jackets to reassure themselves. As for love, it's like respect - I only value it from those I love, and those I respect. Some Christians seem to flourish it like some kind of weapon forged for conquering. I used to tell them, kindly, to keep it to themselves as they obviously needed it more than I did, and their convictions (which I had examined more closely that they had, usually) had nothing to do with me. I refuse to be a film screen for other people's projections. However, if I had any blessings to bestow I would certainly bid them to you dear Puss.

You're so right... I see Christians all the time calling atheists names... That kinda voids out the purpose of being Christian, does it not? I've seen a few great answers... One was "I hope you rot in hell... God bless!" and another "because God is love, idiot."

i love your questions!
lets take them one by one:
rant- because we all have a soapbox. even I am guilty of it sometimes. but usually at the end I do apologize for my rant.
call people names - that is just wrong and no one should do it CHRISTIAN or not. but the internet gives us the sense that no one knows who we are. and we aren't looking at anyone face to face. we are just looking at a computer screenn. so it is easier to call jim bob a dork.
report atheists (or anyone for that matter) for valid questions (and might I add valid answers) - cause that is just people being plain mean and vindictive. and that too is wrong for anyone not just CHRISTIANS. and that won't stop unitl YAHOO does something about it. Like charging points to report abuse. like when you ask a question.

Christ is our advocate. We must keep his commandments and love one another.
"If we keep his commandments"... He speaks of that practical knowledge by love and affection, which can only be proved by our keeping his commandments; and without which we can not be said to know God as we should do.
The love of God to us is of loving one another and of purity of conscience.
I have seen Atheists, Christians, Muslims, etc. "rant".
God is light, and in him there is no darkness.
Respect one another as you would want to be respected.

They have stated that they believe in the Lord, but I do not think they are strictly a Christian band as they have used some profanity.
