aspirin, acetaminophen (Tylenol), or ibuprofen (Advil, etc)?
I have mild arthritis in my back.
Thanks!
Linda

PS: Aleve isn't available in Canada without a prescription
I've used Naproxen for mentrual pain, but it's also prescribed.
I was hoping for a less powerful, less expensive alternative.

For my husband and me it is Aleve, Naproxen (Naprosyn). It is an anti-inflammatory and works better for him than Vicodin.

Absolutely it's Aleve Liquid Gels, it is Naproxen, which is what doctors normally prescribe when arthritis is first diagnosed. When pain was real bad I would take 1 Aleve and also 1 Tylenol extra strength, the Tylenol is acetaminophen and is a great mild pain reliever. If you need a rub, Bio Freeze is good.
Good Luck, hope you get relief from your pain soon!!
You are in good company??!!?? lol

If you want to try preventive try Glucosamine, supplement that provides cusion to joints. Also best over the counter for Canada is Motrin(Ibuprofen). I take Aleve (Naproxen) for mine. Warm showers and Chiropractor help too. Hope this gives you some direction.

My chiropractor suggested that I take bromelain (my shoulder is inflammed) instead of taking an OTC like Advil. Bromelain is an enzyme that's found in pineapple that helps with inflammation but also aids with digestion. There's lots of clinical research that's been published recently about the benefits of bromelain. You could probably find this supplement at your local health food store.

I use Excedrin, except that I buy a store brand with a coating, like the store brand that WalGreens carries. Regular Excedrin burns my stomach. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia, and hot baths help more than anything else. Best of wishes to you.

Aspirin is probably the best because it is an anti-inflammatory. Tylenol is not. Ibuprofen has not been as effective personally.
Watch your tummy with either one, though. They can cause bleeding. Take with food.

I would recommend aleve. It works really well for me, I have arthritis in my wrist and a back injury as well, it works wonders, especially for the inflamation that occurs. Try it out, see how it works for you.. Good luck. :)

Actually if you aren't allergic to shellfish use Flexamin - it is an herbal supplement that reduces the swelling and improves your range of motion with none of the side effects of pain relievers (like stomach ulcer and liver damage).

I love Advil Liquid Gels. They dissolve and get into your bloodstream faster. They help with my knee pain sometimes.

Excedrine makes a new back and body pain relief. I have tried it for endometrosis problems and it offers a little relief so I am not sure if it would help you but it is worth a shot.
