I've had TMJ for many years. Today I notice that my face is numb, above my upper lip and up into my nose, and above my lip it is swollen. As if I received a novacaine injection -- only I didn't. No bug bites, no baseballs to the mouth. Haven't eaten anything different to cause a reaction or tried any new cosmetics. Do you think this strangeness could be due to the TMJ?

Or, do you think it could be caused by sinus congestion. When I press on my sinus area it hurts alot.

I don't think it is your TMJ, I would expect the discomfort to be more in the ear area. Your symptoms are strange. If they don't clear up you should really consider going to your doctor.
